Is anyone out there still having rear end noise from their 2012 ZL1? Had the fluid changed once...still making noise.

My car has 2100 miles on it and I have not changed the oil in the rearend. No noise on mine and have had no problems at all with my Z. I hope it stays that way to!!

Mine makes noise on sharp turns when it's cold for the first few minutes of driving. But in my opinion that's the price you pay for having a such a stout driveline in the car. If it's making noise and acting funny after it's warmed up then you may have a problem. Not saying I'm right or wrong it's just my opinion.

I changed mine last year at 1500 miles after breakin. Then started to get the rear end chatter/noise this year at about 4500 miles and brought it in to the dealership. Only about 500 miles since it was changed again, so we'll see.
Im willing to change the fluid in order to have an aggressive rear end. Besides hopefully it keeps everything happy back there with fresh fluid.

Mine is definitely noisy when cold for the first couple blocks but quiets once warmed up a bit.

Mine started whining on decel, replaced ring & pinion and outer bearings but the mechanic couldn't get a good pattern using the thickest shim in stock, they send thicker shim still no good pattern, factory sends complete new diff now it whines all the time, can be heard over road noise and exhaust at 80 mph. The area rep stopped briefly and drove it on Tues so am waiting to hear what the final verdict is. Would not be surprised at all to be told that it's a common trait for this car, just like the supercharger rattle that mine also developed. I guess it's easier/cheaper to make excuses than fix of design flaws.

I too have a whine in my rear end. But my philosophy is that until the darn thing falls out I'm just not going to fuss with it other than make sure the fluids are up to par. I've gone through this before many many times
with GM over a number of different cars and all you get is aggravation, anxiety, anger. It just is not worth it. The dealers just don't care--however they do understand it when you hand them broken parts. I admit this a crappy way to look at things--especially in a car that is generally loved by the owners. |

I got bad whining in my '10 SS after I put in Royal Purple.
I've read that Valvoline Synthetic may quiet it down. I have 2600 on the Odo now, but no noise like my old '10 SS |

It's a fact strong rears are noisy, and this stock rear has been in the 9's with no issues so I highly doubt the noise is a design flaw

I'd take it in to have the dealer look at it but unfortunately I live in an area where the dealers are terrible. So I guess I will keep driving until I know for sure something is wrong.
