I know JL is the brand name every one loves for audio tech. But my local audio dealer/installer is a memphis vendor. Any one have any good knowlage on memphis audio? Over all audio quality? Product quality/durabilty (subs).

I know the tech has not changed in speakers for some time. So their $500 sub should compare to JL's $500 sub in theory maybe some minor differences.

My bro had a Memphis Audio sub in his other car and I never heard any complaints from him about it!

the upper end stuff is comparable, maybe a tad better..

Memphis is good stuff. IME, it used to be better. Their quality has suffered some as of late. That said, it is compareable to JL in almost every respect. Memphis, IMHO has better entry level stuff, the midline is equal to JL and the higher end nod goes to JL. By the high end stuff though, JL and Memphis are on two different roads, Jl leaning towards ultimate sq, Memphis ultimate spl.

In the end, you shouldn't be disappointed with Memphis. I installed it for years and had it in my vehicle many times with no complaints. The Memphis Memphis Belle, the big boy, is still my all time favorite 5 channel.

i have a memphis 16-mcd1500(1500wrms@2ohms) and a 16-mca3004(75wrmsx4@4ohms). they sound incredible and haven't cut out on me once... subs are REsx12's

i was originally looking at JL but thought they were a bit overpriced.
