Question Auto Tran HARD Downshift When Braking

I did a quick search and didn't find anything. I was driving in "S" yesterday and was braking as I came up to a stop sign. The car downshifted HARD as if I was getting ready to poweslide through the turn. It did it again at the next stop and the felt like it actually shifted down then back up then back down again. The RPMS were jumping up to 5 or 6k. It hasn't done it since.

Is this a glitch in the computer or did I do something to make the car think I was racing?

I havent had it do anything quite that drastic. However, I have had it, on occasion, downshift a bit sooner than usual. I've also had it not UP shift after taking a corner aggressively. In either case, I cant figure out if it is supposed to do that for some reason or if there is a bug in the system. (if I had to guess I'd say its related to stabilitrack/traction control)

It depends on how hard you were accelerating before you slowed down for the sign. I can reproduce that effect consistently- the computer thinks you're going to jump back on the throttle and downshifts in advance to help.

Yep, that's part of the 'sport' in sport mode. Holds RPMs high where the most HP is found for aggressive driving. It sounds great if you have an aftermarket exhaust.

Aggresive acceleration followed by braking will cause it do this for me. It's probably the computer thinking you are trying to take a corner quickly and down shifts hard to give you better exit acceleration quicker. My guess at least.

can you drive it in sport mode all the time as soon as u get it or should you let it break in 1st or does it not matter?

It say's in the manual that the car will downshift during braking. Maybe if you are in sport mode and braking really hard it's going to match you by down shifting really hard. How hard were you braking ?

Mine sometimes does this after having sat at a stop.. Basically if I accelerate quickly as I turn a left (or sometimes right) turn it stays in a lower gear and doesnt upshift.

In my case it doesnt seem to have anything to do with braking.

Acceleration shifting also depends on how hard you step on it. If you floor it, it will basically reach the redline before each shift (like in a drag race).
