IF they have the tool, you should be able to get in and have it done while you stand there. It's not that big of a deal to do.

My dealership had to do so many of them, the "special tool" broke, and they're waiting on a new one.
The tool to punch out the roll pin? LOL I just used a small precision screwdriver and punched my spare one out I bought off EBay...

I just came back from dealer and I signed a piece of paper, which tells GM that I decline the recall, and get to keep my old switchblade keys.

My car has been transported to my dealer but I have to still wait on the keys. I just go by and visit the showroom floor to take a look at it and hear how many people have asked to buy it.

I wish GM would come up with an upgrade kit for the FOB. I did the same thing on my 911 a few years back.. I posted a link of how it was done..

How long did this process take? I'm about to buy a Camaro in the Greensboro area, but they will not release the car sale until they ship the part to my dealership?

That would be nice if they offered that option. Not that you can't buy one, but who should have to with a new car!

By that logic, why should anybody even contemplate spending $2000 or more for new tires and wheels for a brand-new car? Or come up with a list of things you want to change even before taking delivery?

Seriously, if you don't like Chevy's "fix" for this, just modify that just like you would with wheels, or a tune, or tint, or . . .

Had my car in for the "overly paranoid" 1500 mile engine and diff oil change, and they told me about the recall. I told them I didn't want to refuse it just yet, but didn't want it done either. He told me that was okay, and deleted it off my record so it never shows up again.

I actually might get it done on one key ("oops, I lost the other!! Sorry!"), or buy a couple off EBAY and have them cut and programmed, so essentially have 4 sets of keys. Not sure. Just didn't want to make up my mind just yet.

I think, like most, I'm over-thinking this whole thing...
