Guys with window tints... help with issue please

Hope it is okay to post here...

Windows are tinted, high quality tint.

Drivers window, when using the auto up feature, frequently travel to about an inch of the top, then rolls down to about 3 inches from being all the way open. Does not do it all the time. Seems to do it mostly, but not exclusively, when the car is stopped. If I hold the button to go up, it does.

Dealer says its the window tint binding because of it's thickness. I can't believe that. It is high quality tint. and only does it on the drivers side.

Anyone else having this problem?

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

We used to have the same problem with our mercedes, it went up and came down about 4 inches, it did it every time. We took it to the dealer and they did some sort of reset and something with the fuse and it was fixed. Go to another dealer, and ask them to reset it.

I have been tinting windows for about 15 years now. And I think I ran into this once on a Jaguar.
Here is a link to a similar problem. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70683

My stupid window does this once in a while and I have no clue why. Don't think it's the tint either because only one side does this

What it does is the same thing it does when you shut of the car while te windows are coming up. Not sure what exactly is going on as to why it does it while normal driving conditions

It does it on mine and I don't even have window tint, so it is not the tint. I hate when it does that, I look like a moron with my window going up and down, lol. Sometimes it will do it like 3 times before I get it to work.

So I am guessing you haven't taken it back to be fixed yet...

If I find a solution I will let you know.

I will try the fuse pull and see if it helps.

Thanks,

Jim

I think there is a re-indexing procedure in the manual. Start there. My 2010 manual had it, for sure. Haven't read the new one.

I had the same issue with my mercedes. I used to have to reset the window. Not sure you can reset the windows in our camaros.

Not sure if this will work but try to push down the button of driver window till the window is down completely, keep pressing the button down for around 10 sec, after that pull up the button till the window is up completely, and keep pulling the button for around 10 sec.

Good luck

There are instructions in the owners manual on how to reset the window indexing function. I'm guessing that will fix your issue.

Will try the instructions, I thought they were for the indexing problem, which I thought was just the little amount it stays down in order to shut the door. Pulling a fuse isn't much work so I will try it.

Had this happen with my Porsche once...took it to the dealer and they replaced the motor for the window...all under warranty. No question about my window tint.
