Mine is the auto 6sp.

Yes I took off my RS 20" rims & tires and put on the LT polished 19" rims & tires. (smaller cicumference = slightly quicker 0-60 times)
I always run in the sport mode.

The Temp.,Humidity,Barometric pres.,Elevation ALL make a VERY LARGE difference in 0-60 times........

Example: ....w/ Very High temp.& humidity with 29.68 pres. my 0-60 runs were: 6.09 & 6.38 secs......( elevation was the same)

I know that temp, humidity and all that play a big role in the V6 0 - 60 times, and I'm estatic that we're getting numbers so low into the 5s!

What I don't get is why couldn't the "professional" car magazines reproduce these times?? I'm faily certain that MotorTrend tested all 4 versions of the camaro on a cool, brisk morning and could not get better than a 6.1 average with the V6 auto. How is it that we are getting times nearly a second quicker?

Well... I can tell you if you go out and drive your car around... get it up to temp and then park it for 15 to 20 mintues your car will be slower... and once you heat soak the MAF/IAT sensor it take quite a bit of driving to get the IAT temp back down... so I'm wondering how the mags did their tests...

#1 ...Motor Trend has the RS V6: 0-60mph @ 5.9 & 6.0 secs. ( Very small factor: I replaced my RS tires W/19" LT's)

#2... We DON'T KNOW that they did their tests on a cool morning etc...
I have NEVER seen where any magazine stated ALL the weather condtions. TEMP.,HUMIDITY,BARMOMETER PRES.& ELEVATION !
Some list some but not ALL of the above.

#3 ...I HAVE GOT THOSE TIMES that the mags. stated & SLOWER with the weather not as favorable....See Example....

Example: ....w/ 86degs.temp.,75% humidity & with 29.68" presure my 0-60 runs were: 6.09 & 6.38 secs......( Elevation, methods & place of my runs was the same) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BOTTOM LINE: Those 4 factors make a vast difference in 0-60mph , 1/4mi.or any other times !

I'm just really impressed the car is this quick. I don't think anyone saw a stock auto getting 5.1.

I've also got the polished 19"s with auto. I really can tell the difference between a warm mid-80s day and how it runs with mid-60s at night. It's literally night and day.

BTW, what is the device you're using on the dash and where can I get one?

I believe you, X. You've been pretty on top of all this. I'll just say I didn't expect it, not a full second below what most magazines published on a stock car. I find that amazing.

I wonder if my exhaust mods (shorties coming soon!) plus a nice cool morning in the 50s could get me a 5.0 flat. That would be something.

after all my performance disappointments with my car, i must say...i was driving her the other night and it was -1 C and boy, she was fast. Only problem was the Pzeros were not gripping at all, the drive wasnt long enough i believe but still. Car felt great. Performance is still not what i think it should be, but atleast i know shes got more in her on the cold days. I wish i could replicate this feeling all day, year round. Would a cold air intake produce a similar feeling, or will it just be sucking in warm to hot air?

Yeah, summer performance tires are usually recommend when the temps are like ABOVE 45* F / 7* C... It's been unseasonable cold here the last week or two... i am NOT ready to put snow tires on yet! LOL

Ok, I received and installed my Airaid intake yesterday and Fed Ex also had my Matrix Accelerometer onboard. It's been raining here the last few days but stopped late last nite so I thought I'd give my new toys a try this morning on my A6.

Roads were damp with a temp of 43 degrees and 70% humidity. First two runs showed 5.8 and 5.7 on a start from idle and mashing the pedal. Tires spun on the damp road and there seemed to be a slight hesitation at launch.

Well I thought that's pretty good in these conditions and i'll give it a try later in the week when the weather is supposed to clear.

On the way home I decided to give it one more shot on a on level on-ramp to a well paved and relatively dry by-pass.

This time I loaded it up to about 1.5k rpm, released the brake and briskly and steadily ran thru the throttle. No hesitation this time with little spin.

I like my new intake! I'll try later in the week and hope to see the same 4.98.
