do gears or swap center section
I priced out 3.91 GM gears. gears $218 install kit $199 labor quote from dealer and gear shop both were $700+ tax $756 so $1173 and both said for me to get the gm parts for them or I could get a complete center section for $1700. Then sell the 3.45 center section and do the install myself. What would my 3.45 3000mile center section be worth? With only 3000 miles would I need a install kit with the GM gears? The shop told me I would not need bearings with only 3000 miles but will I need a shim kit? Maybe not since the shop only does gears. The dealer will need everything to do the gears. If I have dealer do the gears i keep the 5yr 100,000 mile warranty and speedo recalibration is included. If I have gear shop do it I mite loose rear end warranty (service manager is a friend of mine) and will have to pay for speedo calibration. What would you do?

I got a factory pulled 1le 3.91 and installed it in my driveway for less than $800, then took it for a full tune update. All said less than $1000.
