Kinda tough, I started fighting with this decision after i found out the 5th gen was gonna be a bit porky. imo the camaro is better looking and i need a back seat.If i didn't have a small child i'd buy a used c6 and mod the crap out of it.

A vette though, will still be a vette, will still get attention, and every time you drive it you will know your driving a hell of a sports car. Plus it sounds as if you can save a ton of cash on it as well....get the vette.

Well if you go with the Vette, you're getting a base model. No badging, no upgrades, but a Vette nonetheless, and it will probably outrun your LS3 Camaro every time. But your Camaro is decked out to YOUR specs, which I think would kinda connect you to the car more than if you bought a car sitting on the lot. Plus it's gonna get way more looks than the Vette. And while the Vette is gonna get you to school alot faster, the Camaro is a 2+2, allowing you alot more cargo space (ie: friends, books, beer kegs) than the Vette, which is like a 2+2cupholders right? I dunno man, I'd lose sleep over a decision like this if it were me, (why oh why don't I have problems like this one?...) Corvette is a REAL tempting proposition, but I'm bettin you'll be happier with the Camaro in the end...

I agree

Been waiting for this for over 3 years, ever since the concept came out and I sold my red 2000 SS M6. Always been more of a Camaro fan than a Vette fan but now they are practically giving away brand new 09' Vettes here. There's a silver A6 with chrome wheels going for $42k, black A6 with exhaust going for $44k and another black A6 going for $42k. Those prices include the GM Loyalty which I would qualify for since my mom bought a G8 last year. I believe the Camaro doesn't qualify for this. The other thing is I have $2700 rebate on my GM credit card which I can use the whole thing for a Vette but only $1k on the Camaro which would bring the price even closer.

Benefits of the Camaro are that it has 60's styling, a backseat and is the hottest thing on four wheels (right now). But the Vette is faster, corners better, gets better gas mileage and has a real LS3 (vs the L99 for A6 Camaros). I figure whatever I buy now I'll probably buy the other also within 3-4 years. So maybe its best to get the Vette now since its discounted and get the Camaro later when its not as hyped as much and possibly even have a Z/28 available. What do you guys think?
no, its a CAMARO. i lust for vettes too, but..
...ITS A CAMARO. nuff said. either way, good luck and share!!!!!

I had the same dilemma. However, I decide to go with a 1SS @ 32,500 with BA sound system and auto transmission. I think I’m going to wait until the 2013 Corvette comes out. I think Corvette style is a little outdated. When 05 came out it should been called an update model not a complete re-design. However, the Camaro is really an awesome car I plan to keep for a good while.

It's a pretty sweet car. Couldn't go wrong with a vette, gt500, or camaro.

I agree. The Corvette needs a complete redesign from the ground up. I am so tired of that rear window "hatchback" look on the Vette. That basic look has been around since, what, the late '70's? Get rid of that rear window !

After reading some more posts i agree that the camaro will lose some luster, but what car doesn't? The vette might be the pinnacle of american cars but there are a TON of them on the road to the point where they are just another car..So you should get what you want
