K&N air intake?
hi everyone!
I have been debating for a while whether or not to get a K&N air intake for my V6 Camaro. people have told me that you would hear a faint "whine" noise when you accelerate, and others have told me that they had a lot of problems. any advice or suggestions? has anyone had any problems? thanks!

I have a K&N CAI and I love it! I like the nice sound it's adds and have had no issues.

There is a really great thread under modifications that shows dyno results for each of the air filters. It's at the very top before the posts from user
Any of the air induction systems will whistle or whine...it's and awesome sound with an odd perk...deer and elk hate it! After doing lots of research I put a CAI on my 11 LT2 RS A6. My family is a die hard K&N family so it was a change. The camaro platform seems to do best away from K&N and there's another huge crowd that supports the vararam filter system. Take the time and look at each...money will also be an issue..just make sure you are happy. Fyi if you a amazon prime account you can save some money. K&N typhoon was around 349.00 and the Cai I found for 399.00 plus free shipping. It's totally worth it! You can see mine in my photo album |

I also have a CAI inductions installed and I have no issues with it. I love the way it sounds when I open her up. Its also an attractive install. Its sealed at the top and looks great.

I have one sitting in the garage waiting for me to bolt it in. Had one in my '03 Ram 1500 and it sounded great, I've no doubt it will do the Camaro proud. I should have it in on/by Friday so I could let you know.

I have CAI inc and I love it when my Camaro whistles for me when I punch it. It is a great permagrin enhancing modification.

K&N Typhoon for a couple of years now. no issues. I've never heard the 'whine' cause my exhaust drowns it out I guess

K&N is not bad for the price, but there are better systems out there. Roto-Fab, Airaid and CAI would be my top choices.
Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions and have a great day! Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |
