Opinions on start up issue

Happened one time — tried to turn on the car and got lights, but no crank. Wasn’t trying to turn over or anything. Car runs fine now and voltage looks ok, but i will get rough starts where the starter won’t click and the car will sputter and crank on.

Shop says bad battery due to bad alternator. Have almost 90k miles.

How do i know if its the battery, starter, or alternator? Shop wanted to replace alternator for $800.
