Wheels or Rims?
So a long battle of the words do you have Wheels or Rims on your Camaro??

I have always gone with OE equipment called wheels, and aftermarket wheels called rims.

I think it depends how old you are. Back in my day they were always called rims but all I hear now are 'wheels'. I get strange looks when I call them rims. To me the tire and the rim together make up the wheel.

Recently switched to wheels. Not sure why, I guess I am getting more refined in my 26th year of age haha. Used to say rims all through high school..

When I hear "rims" I think of cheap plastic wheel covers. Tires are mounted on wheels.

The rim is always the outside edge of something. You have a glass, but the top of it is called the Rim, you have a Canyon but the top edge is the rim of the canyon. The rim of the wheel is the part that holds the tire on.
The center of the wheel is called the hub. The hub and rim together make a wheel.

In actuality, wheels, as first manufactured had three components. The hub witch is the center portion which houses the bearings and means to fasten to the axle/spindle, secondly would be the spokes which join the hub and third component, known as the rim. The assembly together is a wheel. Now with more modern WHEELS, they are sometimes one piece as with billet wheels but the individual sections are usually referenced in the same manner, hub, spokes and rim and as an assembly, wheel.
