My circle D converter is supposed to ship tomorrow. Does anyone know how many quarts of ULV fluid I'll need for the job?

It's hard for me to accept that a car as starved for traction as is a ZL1 A10 in low gear would need a looser converter. I just did a 15 in. conversion in an effort to get my car to hook at 8000 DA and sea level is out of the question.

I would generally agree but worth mentioning that a naturally aspirated SS with a bigger than stock cam could definitely use the converter. Now PD blower cars, not so much lol…

I've never owned an SS and can't really comment about its power and converters. All I can do is complement this topic by discussing ZL1 A10 converters. Having said what I said above, I'm 100% sure there are mod ZLE with Square D converters

Well, given that the 10L80 did not come in the ZL1 or ZLE I’m not sure why you’re discussing them lol…. The ZL1/ZLE has a 10L90 that has been out since 2017 and converters have been available (if not often needed). The 10L80 is newer, comes in the LT1/SS only, and it took a little bit for aftermarket converters to become available.

Because both cars face much the same issues relative to looser converters. Such as, are you experiencing traction problems with the stock converter? Do you have too much or not enough low gear? Do you have an aftermarket tire on the car? Did you know that Square D makes a converter? Does the 10L80 transmission's TCM have a first gear delete? So on and so on.

Comparing an NA LT1 SS to a PD blower ZL1 is apples to oranges when talking about torque converters.

Circle D says factory stall is 2,500 on ZL1 10L90.

They are recomending very loose converters even for PD blower cars and launching in second gear.

Traction is for certain a major factor. On a well prepped track with 17 x 10s" MTDRs we can leave, in first gear, at 1,500 with 1.35 60s. Fair prep we leave at 800-1,000 rpm and 60s go to 1.40s.

I'd like to hear from the Fast guys as to how they are setting up converters / launching full weight cars?

I’m full weight, stock converter, and leave in second gear. Traction is an issue with 17’s so I’ve just upgraded to 15’s and need to get back to the track. Believe the fastest Gen6 PD car (@ZL1Atlanta on this board) is also stock converter & leaving in second gear banging down 8.20@173…
