Cool Prostock69's Camaro and Wheel Quest

This journal will be for future exterior mods (wheels, hoods, spoilers) that we want to get by next spring.

For what we have done to the car under the hood, see my husband's journal here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42255

Picking out wheels for your car is one of the most important decisions due the fact it affects how your car looks more than any other mod you can do to your car. I mainly started this journal to keep track of the wheels I am looking at for our car. We want 20x8.5 or 9's on the front and 20x10 or 10.5's on the rear. We want either highly polished or chrome wheels, and we are leaning towards old school muscle car style. It must be 5 spoke (not necessarily solid. I am also keeping a running thread of IOMs with different wheels. This will be very helpful to me in determing what I like and don't like. From all the pics of IOMs I have gathered so far, I can honestly say that I don't care for black wheels on IOM nor do I like ones with colors, other than black accents.

I will be posting pics of wheels that I am considering along with pics of cars (not necessarily Camaros) that have the wheels on them. They will be sorted by manufacturer.

Thanks! I appreciate your comments. This will be an ongoing project. There are so many to choose from! I'm finding this to be so difficult. I want to be different, but not THAT different yet I want it to have that "wow" factor. Plus, Darin has to like them which is a huge obstacle. He's pickier than I am. So the search will continue until I find that "one" wheel that speaks to me.

I really liked that one too. However, I just discovered that they are only making it in size 22. So it's off my list. But I'm keeping it up there in the hopes they will make 20s"

Well your headed on the right path of righteousness; by owning a C5, now make it your own................

Tons of great vendors here on Camaro5.com to make your mods come true, at walmart prices, if you shop wisely!

I am watching your thread real close because your car and my car are going down pretty much the same path so far.
My next thing after the car goes to the speed shop for upgrades (see signiture) will be wheels. I am like you, they either have to be chrome or highly polished as I feel a nice wheel accents a Camaro and to me black or painted wheels just do not do that.
With all of the wheels I have looked at I think I have almost 100% decided on chroming the OEM wheels. I feel cost wise this is the best way to go as I cannot see paying 2-4plus thousand dollars for wheels when that extra money can go towards upgrading the motor, rear, suspension, etc. (4;10s are my priority )
Now,my biggest problem is finding a company that does QUALITY chroming.

Hello! Thanks for following my journal. I have to agree with you on the Chrome OEM wheels being the best wheel so far. I literally spent 9 hours online yesterday looking at every wheel available for the Camaro and not ONE of them convinced me that I needed to buy it.

("I feel cost wise this is the best way to go as I cannot see paying 2-4plus thousand dollars for wheels when that extra money can go towards upgrading the motor, rear, suspension, etc. (4;10s are my priority)") You and my husband must share the same brain!! I swear, he told me the exact same thing yesterday except it was after I showed him the wheels I REALLY liked that would cost us about 7k after buying tires for them. But those are out of the question for us. I want our car to be unique, but not THAT unique.

I'm not giving up on finding a wheel other than the OEM. I subscribed to all the wheel vendors I could so once they come out with new wheels, I will get emails notifying me of them. I'm anxious to see what the 2011 "models" will look like.

These are at the top of my list now. I woke up this morning and looked at all the wheels on my journal and none of them are as appealing as the Chrome OEM one. I gotta hand it to the designers of this wheel. It's very hard to beat.
