I sold several performance parts off the car including the AGP turbo kit, built TR6060, complete 9" rear setup, sway bars, solid subframe mounts, etc... Thought I had the whole car sold, but the buyer backed out. For now, I have taken it off the market.

I took it to the Holley LS Fest this past weekend. I managed to place second in the 5th gen Camaro class. I lost to a COPO in the finals. It was completely my fault. I was too worried about breaking out, so I babied it. If my reaction time had been better, I could have won.

My losing run.

My fastest run.

What I was trying to do.

I'm happy I placed at all. There was only one other manual trans car in the class.

Our car was on Spike TV's Powernation Detroit Muscle this morning from their LS Fest coverage.

Keep in mind, it was bracket racing.

Well, I'm kicking myself for selling most of my performance stuff. Since I decided to keep the car a bit longer, I just can't leave it alone. I have to have some of my power back. I didn't want to mess up my 3.91 rear diff or axles, so I purchased some parts to do a ZL1 rear diff swap. The diff and axles came from a salvage yard. After two failed attempts to get a ZL1 driveshaft, I bought a new one from GM. I also bought new axle seals, driveshaft bolts, and plugs to plug off the oil cooler on the rear diff. When the ZL1 diff showed up, they left it attached to the rear cradle. I decided to take advantage of that since the ZL1 cradle has stiffer bushings. The sway bar was still attached too, so I ordered FE4 control arms and end links to take full advantage of what they sent.

Old diff.

New ZL1 diff.

Passenger side ZL1 axle vs stock axle.

I picked up the ZL1 trans flange from a member here on the forum. I already had the trans out for some clutch stuff, so I swapped it while it was out of the car.

I also installed the billet support bearing in the slave cylinder from Monster. Here's a couple of pics showing the stock plastic piece next to the new billet piece. I have a buddy that had the plastic piece fail, so I thought this would be some good insurance.

ZL1 diff in.

BTW, contrary to popular belief, you don't have to change the hubs to work with the ZL1 axles. I used my stock SS hubs.

ZL1 driveshaft installed.

As for power, I'm going cheap this time. I decided to give the On3 Performance single turbo kit a shot. I did upgrade to the 76mm ball bearing turbo and 4" intercooler.

The air filter seen here is the wrong one. There's not enough room for it to fit. On3 did however send me the right one when I brought it to their attention.

The first thing I noticed is how nice the kit actually looks. The welds are a work of art.

I took most of the piping to Nitroplate to have them coated to help with the temps.

More to come soon!

Been slacking on my build thread.

Went to the 1/4 mile track a couple of days ago. It was super hot. Best time was 11.6 @ 120 which is 10 mph slower than when I had the Whipple. I'm not happy with this kit. I didn't know enough about turbos when I purchased it. I heard 76mm and thought it would be plenty big. Now I know the turbine is way to small to be on a 6.2. It's very inefficient and can't maintain boost. I'm sure back pressure is a huge factor too. It's a shame that On3 recommended this turbo to me as an upgrade because they were out of the 78mm. Still very disappointed with their customer service since they completely stopped responding to messages and phone calls about missing pieces and fitment issues due to them welding the wrong flange on.

Here's a view from a buddies car.

You may have noticed in the video, my hood is black now. I added a 1LE hood from a 2014 with the vent.

Managed an 11.4 @ 124 this weekend at Camaro Fest. Bad news is I blew a head gasket before competing in my class. It destroyed the block and head as well. I was only seeing about 11 psi. I was using ARP head bolts with LS9 gaskets.

1st off, great build. I hope my car can match yours one day.

2nd, Im shocked that the stock block held out as long as it did, because alot of shops keep telling me that after 650hp its only matter of time untill the pistons or rods go. But seeing your car with 700+hp and almost Drag racing all the time makes me question that.

Again, great build and I hope you continue with it.

Pistons and rods are still fine. Just a fluke on the head gasket.

I'm not sure. Somewhere in the 6xx range.

I almost have the car back together. It's pretty much stock now. I even sold all of the appearance mods I did. I haven't had much time to work on it, so the car has been sitting on the lift for just over a year now. I did find the cause for the failure. The On3 wastegate stuck and that's what caused the head gasket go blow. If I had kept the Whipple, or even the AGP kit, I'm certain the engine would still be going strong. It does make me sad to look back through this thread and see how much I put into this car and now I've put it back to stock.
