If you want to use the ipod for control then you could use an auxillary cable instead of the USB cable.

I discovered Bluetooth audio streaming works well too. I have the current version of ipod touch and like to touch it of course. Now i have a regular ipod usb'd & tucked away in armrest console and an ipod touch i can control using the bluetooth method. Best of both worlds. I like the ipod touch so i can watch a video whenever i'm parked.

Yeah I'm going to need one of those for my Nuvi too! In my RX8, I just removed the entire ashtray piece and stick my nav in the hole. Then when the lease was up, i just stick it back in and it was good to go.

There is a power outlet on the console next to where the mount is. (look just to the left of the ipod mount in front of the shifter)

What about running the power to the USB Jack?

I charge it weekly when I sync to itunes. I have a usb'd ipod tucked away in the armrest for most of my music needs. The touch is there just for to-do lists, calender, watching video when parked, etc.
