It's great to see the SST driving on it's own power! Did they do any chassis dyno tuning yet or did I miss that part?

I think they decided it was to badasst to sit still on any chassis dyno. The car wants to GO... strapped down or not!

The engine was already fully tuned on an engine dyno for full throttle and basic part load curves.

This week it is road tuning with multiple laptops running R/T software while the car is driving around. So may variables with the converter/tranny gearing/rear gearing/weight/cooling/differences in air between the desert and the coastline, etc. that the road allows much more precise tuning over a broad range of scenarios that we just don't get on a chassis dyno. ...and it is a lot more fun !

No such luck right now. I would love to be out there driving in that California sun, but we are getting ready for a demo in two weeks for unmanned stuff. We are using a Droid (phone & pad) in San Diego to drive our boats offshore Florida in real time... Should be fun.

But in the bigger picture - can't wait to get the SST back to FLA !

Actually the SST makes about the same horsepower as the Merlin did for most of the war. Towards the end of course the Merlin's power jumped markedly.
