Wylde1's wild ride

well I've got more than one mod now haha so I figured I should start the journal up.

So lets get to 'er. It's a 1SS black w/ IOM stripe and black interior.

the day I brought it home. March 26, 2010

This summer I am trying to restrict myself to cosmetic mods only. Just to make it look a little unique in the crowd. And try and maintain some resemblance of a warranty for a while.

went out on a little trip to visit the fiancee's parents and she snapped a few sunset pictures.

My first "mod" I suppose would be the blacked out bowties and SS's. I picked up some black vinyl from shop in town and did it one saturday afternoon. for such a subtle mod, I think it just makes a whole world of difference.

Then, I got to tweaking the interior. It's not done yet, I still have some plans to install ABL and paint the panels and trim. I wanted something a bit different to the IOM interior. I still want more black than orange, so what bits are actually orange really pop. Got a can of IOM made up at a body shop here and took some trim off and went crazy.

Then there's the mod I just finished this weekend. I did the BMW headlight conversion and put lights from a 3 series on the car. Now I have 4 really sweet halos instead of 2! couldn't be happier with how they look.

So that's where she sits right now. There will be more down the road, and I'll keep updating the thread as we go. Next up is interior panel painting and adding ABL! should be a fun one.

EDIT: Adding a few more pictures because I got a touch further on the interior and added some LED foglights.

Here are the new fog lights from Flashtech. They're the 24 LED ones and they're awesome. Much brighter than the old 5202's and very clean white. They match my halos really well, but now I need to get some HID lights in there so I can have everything the same color lighting wise. (I know some LED's are going out on my indicator. Ottobody is supposed to be working on a new one for me)

And here's the direction I"m taking with the interior. I finished the dash trim this weekend, and will do the doors in a similar fashion when I get another free day or 2. I really like it! I'll probably re-do them though because there's some sanding spots that aren't quite 100% in my eye, but I"m likely the only one that can see them haha. Once I finish the door panels, I'm going to put in some EL wire for ambient lighting. Then I'm going to finish up my grill and that should be it for cosmetics! mabye do something with the wheels. not sure yet. Then it's on to "go faster" parts.

Those black SS emblems look great. I never heard of the BMW light conversion though or is it something you thought up? Do they just bolt in or does it have to be modded?

It's a pretty extensive modification. Here's the thread I made about how I did it.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93121

I actually got the idea from Ottobody because they do it on their trans am conversion. As far as I know there are no kits or anything yet, so I had to figure it all out.

Seriously - GM could use that pic for a Camaro Ad.

Reminds me of the Camaro to Trans Am conversion. You did an excellent job. Your car will most definitely stand out from the crowd. Nice.

Did some tweaking of the headlight mounts this weekend. They line up MUCH better now with the lines of the bumper fascia. Next step, make a custom grill to finish it all off. I'm thinking heritage style, billet horizontal stripes, and a small cowl to cover the inside of the lights.

I didn't keep very good track of how much everything was, but if I had to guess probably in the $700-$800 range. And ALOT of time haha

Thanks Indpower! I really couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I'll be even more happy when I've got the new grill in there and the front end will be done. then it's on to the next thing haha.

Your front bumper looks terrible. Your car is probably a DD. You might want to look into a clear bra for the front end. I love the lights by the way. First Camaro that I have seen with these.

yeah I hear ya haha It's my dd and it's getting pretty beat up. I'm waiting until I finish up these lights incase I have to do any more modifying for the grill. Then I'm taking it in and having the bumper re-painted and Clear bra'd for sure. Probably going to do my side gills as well because they are looking a bit beat up too.
