Rally Stripes Ruined by pressure washer

I had the guy who comes to our work clean the car today. I usually wash myself or go to a real expert, but I got lazy. I saw him using a pressure washer earlier but I didn't think anything of it. The damage is noticeable from about 15 feet away from the car.

He apologized (after I noticed) and offered to pay for it once I got quote. He said he was trying to remove a stain. I don't think he knows what he's in for.

Choices are:
-Leave it (just take the cash)
-Replace just damaged stripe
-Another full set of matte black.
-Full set of Silver
-Go for different type of stripe
-Remove completely

Take that as your cue to get them painted, Or just take them off I think it looks cleaner without them.

You could get the quote, get the cash and pay the difference to gave them painted on and not have this issue again. Or just replace the stripe. Either way, I would fix it, one way or the other, don't just leave it.

Take the cash for the vinyl stripes and pay the money for painted stripes.

Same thing happened on my '07 Monte Carlo SS.

Had to order the whole trunk stripe kit just to replace the damaged stripe.

Dealership did it under warranty. If your dealership is any good, they replace the damaged one under warranty.

If the backing glue was any good, the stripes wouldn't have peeled away.

Techinically, it is a warranty issue.

They are OEM, but installed by my tint guy. I think they got a bit brittle in Florida sun. The silver would have endured better (and easier to wax).

Anyway, I don't think they were ever designed to withstand a power washer.

I'd have a dealer put on the exact same set. If a dealer puts them on, will then be covered by warranty for the rest of the warranty on the car. Probably about a $500 oops for mr. pressure washer.

My wife had her striped replaced on her Tahoe 3 times in the last 2 years under warranty. The last time dealer said they wouldnt cover it since it looks like its been under a pressure washer (it had been). SO if you you do get vinyl again, let the dealer install it so you can have some kind of warranty.
