Because there's no way GM could've just produced quality cars, right?

Never mind the fact that JD Power relies upon corporate subscribers to pay the bills, subscibers who would quickly cancel their membership/subscription if they knew of anything neferious going on. After all ... this isn't consumer reports we're talking about.

Good for GM! About time people start to publicly recognize this... Maybe its finally becoming "cool" to buy American again.

Great news for GM but honestly... never ranked in the top 5 in 27 years of the report
and then the first year they change the data collection methods they do? Not saying
they don't deserve to be where they are, but that's still suspect when it comes to stats.

Hate that Jeep didn't score higher since I just bought the wife a Wrangler Unlimited
Rubicon a few weeks ago, but it's been great so far.

For that set, it was reversed: the Malibu was on top, with the Camry & Accord midpack. Only thing different was that the cars no longer had any badges or nameplates
GM had done clinics with two identical products built at NUMMI, GM's joint venture plant with Toyota. The only difference was the badge. The Toyota consistently and repeatedly beat the GM product.

Clinics are often done without badges first and then with to determine exactly what you describe. There was always a difference and it was never positive for the ones I recall.

That is the funniest thing I've read this morning. Of course it's early.

I'm sure a ton of work went into the changes. As they described, many of the changes were to align with current technology and features. And that was across the board so that shouldn't have biased the results.

I did my most recent survey on line. In the so called modern world, I think many people are more used to on line surveys rather than paper. If anything you could argue this got them more results and from a younger group. I still got the request in the mail (with my $1) but it gave me directions to simply go on line. Did it make a difference? Maybe. Did it give GM the win? I don't think so. But we'll see if any of the other OEMs raise questions.

This is great news. Coveted while I was there. Everyone wanted this type of news. But one year doesn't cut it. Everyone else is striving to improve so GM has to do this over.................and over..................and over..................and over to change those perceptions.

Going off my personal experience no. Not even close to Japanese cars of 10 years ago. Quality, craftsmanship, or quality of service. GM just plain sucks. Do they make cool looking crap?? Yes they do but it's still crap.

Good job GM! I took this survey back in march and I have been problem free on my SS so far. It's funny that I am the only member of my family who drives American cars. I laugh as their imports live in the shop. My brothers M3 spends more time in the shop for "ultimate maintenance" than he does driving it.

Subaru?? Life partner?? Where did you come up with that?? It doesn't even make sense. I'd never drive a Subaru. And I'm single right now. My fiancé passed away a couple weeks ago. So thanks.

GM's ranking

I’ve owned many GM vehicles and all of them had too many problems, including the most recent, a 2004 Malibu Maxx. The vehicles were good concepts – with poor implementation and reliability.

It's great to know that the money I was forced to sacrifice, to bail out a non-competitive GM, was wisely spent and lead to a higher quality rating. NOT.

When GM is in need of funds, go to where I have to – A BANK, or to your rich, incompetent, retired executives.
