So far, the RainX treatment I applied a couple of weeks back seems to have done a good job of concealing it.
Ima give the Vinegar a try before resorting to Steel wool. Raised this issue up on another forum, but there was a a lot of controversy regarding Steel wool. |

Alcohol in a spray bottle and news paper works well.

nothing takes water spots off a windshield like A-MAZ water stain remover..
NOTHING ! try all the above recommendations then try the a-maz and report back with results..

I'd use clay...but then there's all these chips...and I'd need something to remove the clay from the windshield.
Washing the windshield with alcohol works for me. But explaining why your car reeks like vodka is a tough sell to a cop.

The folks that make the glass use 50/50 solution of isopropyl alcohol and water. This solution will bring the contaminants to the surface to be removed.
Some will flash off and the remaining can be cleaned off with a glass cleaner.

this worked well for me.
I have had my car for two weeks now. I bought it with 17k on it. It has been raining everyday since I got it. I have only gotten two quick washes in only to be rained on the next day. One thing I have really noticed is how bad my water stains are on the windshield. Was going to try bon ami; Couldn't find any so I went with Barkeepers friend $2.49, Household sponges $2.49, water, and tupperware bowl.
Mix it like paste in bowl with water. Keep the windshield wet with water. Dab sponge on paste, gently scrub windshield in small circular motions (kind of like gently sanding) , wash off with water really well, clean window as normally, and it looks like new! And don't forget to keep the wipers clear.
