Stock for stock, drivers race. Equal drivers 5.0 FTW. Physics. Get over it.

It is still possible to like and enjoy your slower SS. And if you regularly beat stock 5.0s with your stock SS, respect. You can drive. If you ran into my friend with his pure stock 5.0 GT auto you would lose. 12.4@114 uncorrected. The real ET on a good DA night. He spent 100+ runs perfecting his launch coming down from starting at 13.1. And he can drive, he will tree you if you are sleepy. That being said most coyote stock autos I see at Atco are running right around 13.1+- depending on the DA. 6Ms are all over the map. Autos FTW.

Had I seen with my own eyes a stock GT auto crank off a 12.4@114 I would have been seriously tempted to go Blue Oval. I had an SS ordered and canceled it in 2009 cuz it was so heavy.

I think of the 30 or so cars I've owned there were 6 Fords but 20 GM's

I have driven my friends GT several times at the track. At Atco, the end of the track is a bit rough, especially in the left lane. Even with my 1LE's stiffer suspension, it eats up the track at the rough end. In his car I thought he had a flat. There was a lot of rumbling and bumping. But then back in the lanes he was puzzled as his tire pressures were fine. Then when I drove it after that it felt the same way. It was that the GT did not handle the bumps very well at 116+ mph. I get more of a feeling of quality in the Camaro. I think the IRS and much stiffer chassis gives you more of a sense of confidence in the car. Even though his car is faster I prefer mine. I want one of each. But if I could only have one it will be the SS.

The first time I drove his car in the quarter, I ran 12.2 to his 11.9 LOL. Just to keep it fair, he could not break out of the 13s in my car, where I was running 12.4s that night The manual is a challenge. But it could be that he did not want to break my car and he was taking it easy. Either way, we were both faster in our own car.

I live where the air is very good so 12.4-12.7 is normal for stock 5.0s with a driver mod. Just depends on air. Simple mods like tune and cat deletes with dr's they are 11's.. I think the 1le and auto GT are the two most fun cars at the moment and owning both would be very cool. They are totally diff and you can't go wrong with either one.

If I was closer I'd take you up on that offer as many times as you wanted lol

Iv had both at the same time and it's awesome. The Camaro is definitely the better cruiser and inspires more confidence. The mustang was for when I wanted to race lol... I loved each for different reasons, but the Mustang was the faster of the two no doubt.

Yup. In order to start beating lightly modded 5.0 autos I am getting turboed. Then I can go 5.0 bolt-on hunting.

You should make this your sig so you can save yourself the time of typing it out in every post.

With that being said the only time anything has shown equal acceleration was the 1LE vs Track Pack article MT did. Now go look at which car has actually ran those times or better in 100% stock form, hint it isn't the 1LE.

I know the 1LE wheels are lighter than the stock SS wheels, but those wide and sticky 285 series tires up front will cost it a little time going down a drag strip.
