Thoughts on "Update from Fbodfather on QC Hold and R6P"
Saw the update announcement just made at http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25942 but couldn't respond
So it seems like its full steam ahead for delivery and production even tho the company is in bankruptcy reorg right now? That'd be something if they actually manage to deliver and ship out more camaros during bankruptcy than before it Looks like a lot of r6p people will get their cars soon. Congrats. |

That is great news from the man, the myth, the legend fbodfather !!
"I'm pleased to say that we were down to less than 200 Camaro SS models in Quality Hold at Oshawa Assembly as of yesterday (Thursday) -- and we intend to have all of those cars shipped over the next 10 days. Further, we have less than 250 Camaro LT models - all 'stock' orders -- left at Pontiac - -and we hope to have them shipped within the next week." The question I have is (and hopefully I am mis-informed) but aren't there Camaro SS models in Pontiac for QC? If so, how many are left ? Respectfully submitted. |

Thoughts on "Update from Fbodfather on QC Hold and R6P"
Since the thread was closed before anyone could comment, I have some comments I'd like to make about the statements.
First, it's good to hear that they're finally almost done with the Area 51 cars. I'm glad that they're taking quality seriously and making sure these cars are right before shipping them off. IF something else comes up, I hope and expect that they continue to take a firm stance on this. Next... Quote:
Next, since I've completed a "full scan" of the window sticker pages, I can now say what I've found in regards to R6P orders. With a sample size of 3,785 cars, only 55% were preorders. From the statement above, there is no shortage of preorders waiting to be built. R6P orders should be AT LEAST 75% of the builds (really it should be 100% but we'll cut them some slack for extenuating circumstances). This is completely inexcusable. |

My whole R6P drive was to try and ensure that everyones car was (at best) built by July 4th or (at worst) was in the production sequence by then. The latter is still possible so I am keeping my fingers crosssed.
I will say that I am EXTREMELY happy with the communication. This is something which is not Scott's job (PM me if you want to know who's I think it is ) but he did it anyways. Thanks Scott!

Woot, your work has been amazing and all I have to say is I 100% agree with you!
The rest can plunk there heads in the sand and hope for good things, but that does not change reality. Woot, many people have said it, but for everyone that does, there are 10's of us that don't, Thanks.

At least this news is something, I'll take it.
I agree... R6P orders should be AT LEAST 75% of the builds.

I think (and I've had a few conversations with Scott and others to try and teach myself how this works) that since the R6P preorder process was part of the approved allocation plan, GM has to produce and deliver R6P cars so they align with allocation distribution guidlines. I think this is why they said that not all R6P cars would be delivered until October... So the 2/3 number seems to align with that, If not ahead of sched. We'll see. Again, I don't disagree that GM should try to help these cars along in any way they can. But if allocation gets adjusted then GM is in even bigger trouble with franchise law suites from the states and dealers that might get jumped if R6P cars move to the head of the line. FWIW.

Hate to say it
But I agree with USC. At this point if you are going to make the pre-orders wait for 8 months, yet people are walking into dealerships and purchasing them or worse yet there are a many post march orders already built it is B.S.
I have been very good about waiting, untill I read about all of these May orders going 3800, when it took me seven months to get there. There are still alot of 2008 orders yet to be built, how is this good business? 25% production for a few months would have keept the new orders coming in and taken care of the pre orders. If anything a tight supply would have increased their bottom line for the first two years! Granted they figure they have our order in the bag and want to get on to the spot sales. However I will remember this, and will choose not to do any more business with them in the future. I am are talking about a two automobiles a year customer. They should stop and remember customers with our loyalty are their only salvation. I have bought over 20 GM vehicles in the last ten years, but will choose elsewhere in the future. If I treated my customers like this I too would be bankrupt. |

When someone says "I don't disagree", does that mean they do agree? I've always wondered why those words are chosen instead of "agree".

R6P question
If someone ordered from a dealership during the R6P period and the dealership didn't have available allocation, are they still considered R6P orders?
Please explain

No. When we discuss R6P on this site, we are only talking about early orders that are within a dealers allocation . If a car is not within the dealers allocation, it is still placed as an order but GM knows immediately that the dealer has sold all it's allocations and the order is held. Problem is that the customer has no idea what is going on. When this issue comes up, GM should be ensuring that the customer understands this so that they have the option of going to a dealership with allocation.
