depends who you ask? Drone is subjective... we've had a few folks who find the drone on the MRT Ver 2.0 to be totally unacceptable, a few (like me) who feel they really don't drone at all and the majority who are some where in between...

may want to review this latest thread:

Love my system. There might be a slight amount of drone around 75 MPH at 2000 RPM. But nothing that bothers me. I either travel at 70 and use the cruise on the way into work. Or travel faster than the drone to keep up with traffic on the way home from work.

Scrming tells the truth when he says it is all subjective. Use the search button and type in MRT. You will have nights worth of reading and how happy 95% or more of the customers are with this system.

I agree with the others here. There is some drone at certain speeds, but it doesn't bother me. I actually like to "hear" her running. And the radio/iPod is always on - nothing hinders the beat!

I have the MRT V2. They do indeed drone and on long highway trips, in my opinion, it gets annoying. By very definition of the word, a drone is a low pitched harmonic hum or buzz. At highway speeds (a constant 2000 rpm or higher)there is a vary definite drone from this exhaust. Additonally they cause a harmonic vibration that can be felt thoughout the car and can be seen in the rear view mirror. Several people have commented that they make thier back seats buzz and vibrate. I can't help but wonder if the constant vibration will cause any future problems. In my opinion, anyone who tells you there is no drone has an inaccurate definition of the word drone, is tone deaf to that specific fequency, or they are fooling themselves in an affort to make "their choice of exhaust" seem right by getting as many others to purchase the same. We have all seen that third syndrome many times. Somebody does something, then realizes they made a mistake and to make it right they try to convince as many others as they can to follow along. And then theres one last possiblity. One self-appointed expert said it was the best and his minion of followers swear by his declaration without really looking into the facts. Everything this self-appointed expert says must be true???? (Ever read the story of the Emperior's New Clothes?) That combines with the third option, where people don't want to admit they made a mistake so they drag others down there path to make it seem right. Come on people do your own research.....use your own opinions and come to your own conclusions!

Now there are those that really dont mind the drone. Some even say it is music to thier ears. I am truely happy that they like this exhaust. I would never argue a persons personal preference. The reason there are so many types out there is because of personal preference and no one persons preference is better, or more correct, than anothers. If you believe that a black car is the absolutley most beautiful car made, and I would never argue that with you because it's your opinion. But, if you said that a black car was cooler than any other color in the summer sun, I would argue feverishly because it is not factually true.....get my point there?

With all that said, the drone IS there. The 2 questions I think you should ask your self is:

1. Will this drone annoy me? If it won't buy them and enjoy them, they do sound good. (In my opinion.)

2. Will this drone be music to my ears? Once again, they do sound good.

I can't hear it when I'm going down the highway, windows down and listening to music! The exhaust rocks! For me it is there when I want to hear it and when I dont I dont hear it at all.

Merritt,

You hit the nail on the head for me. The "sound" is fine but the drone is annoying. I guess it comes down to tolerance level. I never heard it until I hit the Interstate. Around town and at 55-70 it was great sound. After that my tolerance meter was pegged!!
