im not sure i want to change the sound completely. im just not really satisfied with how it sounds, i need to get more educated on my options for my v6 before i make a final choice though.

Everyone is saying not to get muffler delete on a V6 because the sound your car will make will sound similar to that of a ricer.

dude straight pipes on the v6 sounds much better if you have them replace the pipe to a 3". I saw this video a while back, and then had my mufflers cut off and replaced with 3" pipe. And, everyone who sees it, even v8 camaro owners ask me how the hell does mine sound soo good. And, only cost $70.
But you can get some droning on long trips: Quote:

try youtube. look up various set-ups for the V6 and see which you like. usually ppl will post the part number on there so if you like it, you know which to get.
v6 straight piped is on there. you can see / hear for yourself what everyone has been saying. it does sound odd - almost like a ricer. |

You're asking for advice. The advice is - don't do it to a v6... the reason? It sounds terrible. If you consider helpful advice to be a smartass remark - then perhaps you'd be better suited on a honda forum. and yes - this WAS a smartass remark. so what? I'll echo what everyone else is saying. a no muffler v6 will sound terrible. If you want a sound that's a little more aggressive, but not raspy, and not over the top loud - you really can't go wrong with the way borla or magnaflow sounds on a v6. I wouldn't get a "kit" - if all you're looking for is sound - go to an exhaust shop with the muffler(s) of your choice, and have them weld it in place of the stock stuff. |

OP, I got a set of axle-back muffler and installed them. After chopping off the stock mufflers, I started the car up to see how it sounded. The cold idle sounded awesome, but then I revved it a little and was very loud and raspy. No way I would ever drive around with it that way.
Check out this thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33104 . It has about every known combination anybody has done so far for our V6s and should give you a pretty good idea of what the different set ups sound like.

BTW... for every exhaust system out there, there is at least on dissatisfied customer... Exhausts are a very personal think... what sound good to me may sound horrible to you... you have to choose what you like, not what anyone else likes... |

You have Gibson exhaust, but you're looking to delete your mufflers? This doesn't make any sense. Perhaps you are referring to deleting your stock resonators?
