Beat an SRT8 :)
I ran my bolt on ss against a Challenger SRT8the other night at the strip. I didnt think to ask if it was the 392 or not :/. But yeah he said he had an intake but that was it.
I ran an 8.71 (my best of the night was 8.69) and he ran a 9.08. This was at a 1/8 mile drag strip between birmingham and tuscaloosa Alabama. Anyways, just wanted to share. I was happy to represent for the C5 family

Nice, I drive a 392 a month ago. Those things are pretty quick for how heavy the dang thing is.

I doubt it was a 392 or they need the driver mod.... I have seen them run high 7's and consistent low 8's... (yes stock) even when my 6.1 was stock it was running 8.5's with a best of 8.4 Even in a 3000+ DA I Never ran above 8.7 just sayin something doesn't sound right...

Yeah, but there's always many factors to take into account. A very important factor is track prep. Sometimes our local 1/8 mile is like racing on the street (no prep at all). I also see SRT-8s and 5th gen Camaro SS running (high 8s - low 9s) in the 1/8 mile. I've even seen stock C6 Vettes and even Z06s running mid 8s (which is crazy slow for a Z06). I'm also suprised when I see LS1 z28s and WS6 LS1 Trans Ams running 9.0s in the 1/8 mile (which seems to be the average time when I'm at the track). But yes, with some seat time on a decent track, a stock SRT-8 or Camaro SS can run mid 8s (or even faster) in the 1/8 mile. |
