Interior Ambient Lighting
Sorry if this has been posted before, I did a search but came up with nothing.
I keep going back and forth on this feature. I am worried about how it will stand up log term use. Will the plastic scratch easy will it discolor because of sun etc, will debris be able to fall behind the plastic and be visible? I know this is “new” for a car but do any of the disciples or anyone that has seen it have any ideas on the long term durability of the ambient lighting system? |

Well no one really will have any awnser to those questions because the car hasnt been released yet hence no long term testing was able to be performed. But I can tell you a few things that may help.
1. The plastic should be easy if not very easy to remove (If replacing and cleaning under it should be nessesary. It might take a mechanic or a dealer to show you how but it definatly wont be hard. And I can't imagine the plastic being over $150 - $200 to tottally replace. It's just plastic haha. 2. The lights will be LED which are very inexpesive but are known to last a very long time. (That light on the end of your TV remote is a LED. How long has that thing been running lol.) I definatly think this feature will be worth having personally. |

from what i've read in the guide you won't need to get leather with it. what i wanna know is will there be more colors available later or would we have to change that out ourselves?

My question is, you won't need the RS package to get the lighting correct? So I could get an LT, ask for leather seating, and that comes with the ambient light I guess...

correct, that is the way it looks. No matter which trim you get, if you order leather you get Ambient Lighting

As stated previously, LEDs last for a long time. Durability shouldn't be a concern.

Then that would make the Camaro the only Chevy that would have leather seating as an option for an LS. Yes the Ambient lighting is listed as included with the LT and I for one wont want the leather but will want the LT. That usually means mutiple LT options. And since the RS package will not be available on the LS, I am willing to believe that most of the "goodies" wont be an option for the LS.

i agree, i dont think ambient lighting will be an option for LS, they want people to spend more money and buy the LT. Therefore they add more bells and whistles.

You can just buy the interior LED kits off Ebay. They are just as good if not better.

I'd worry about the quality of any wiring unless you just buy components and build the kit yourself. Everyone knows that eBay has its share of questionable merchandise.
