Tire shine/dressing shootout?

Has anyone ever done a head-to-head-to-head... etc shootout of tire dressings?

I've read FL1CK's review of the Turtle wax black coating.
In the last few days I've read about "Dry Shine", "Tuf Shine" as well as "Powersheen"... probably others like them out there... non silicon based.

I'm not a huge fan of super shiny tires, my current favorite is the Titanium Matte spray on. But, if these others really last months, I'd likely switch. The Dry shine and Tuf shine appear to allow moderation of shine depending on how many coats you apply... so that might be good for me.

My idea would be to clean the tires of a daily driver (like my 09 Malibu, which sees 18k per year and drive thru carwashes...in Michigan)... then section (tape) each tire into however many sections needed for application. You would have to label and track everything well, and have a control section of no product. I would think doing 3-4 products you could see a good correlation as to which really lasted the longest.

So, back to the question... has anyone done it, or would anyone want to foot the bill for something like it?

I'll happily contribute a sample of our Super VRT and an app to the test, but its more a low gloss dressing, not so much a high gloss coating so not sure it really fits in with the mix.

If you want to include it let me know and I'll have it sent.

Try using a product like ARO ( Amazing Roll-Off ), which is a great cleaner which also leaves behind a great looking matte finish on your tires. This if your interested in a clean looking tire that you will mistaken as if it had some type of light dressing on it.

I would like to see the results of this as well... thanks for the post! Subscribed!

Thanks for the replies so far. The point of my test would be to compare longevity/durability. Like I said, I'd likely switch to a higher shine product if I see something that lasts long.

Also, I think it would make sense to test 5 sections of each tire... easy with visual que from the 5 spoke wheels. I suppose you could mix it up from tire to tire in the sense you could put various coats of one product.
Cool if Adams can contribute! If we can get an assortment of products (especially of the ones I first mentioned), perhaps others near me can repeat the test pattern.

My vote goes to:

Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel

Lasts long, matte finish, no sling (dries to the touch) and not greasy.

Oh, definitely not for me... I found the shine I want and I'm staying with it.

Meguiar's Hot Shine tire spray looks awesome in my opinion. It looks extremely shiny and wet. The downside is that it does sling quite a bit. My car is only a toy, so I noticed that if I spray the tires with Meguiar's, and let it sit for a day or 2 when I wouldn't be driving it anyway, that the sling is greatly reduced.

I use this also, but do not spray directly onto the tires. Instead, I use a foam applicator for the purpose, apply the shine to the foam, then put it on the tires with the applicator. Still looks great and eliminates the sling.

That stuff is terrible. Nothing like tire shire up and down your doors and fenders after a hard day of detailing. You dont have to live with it, there are better products out there.
