PieNsky has 116,000 miles and counting. Bought when I did.
Only had to change a rear tail light.

So his car intakes should have gunked up and died according to some??

I don't believe anyone said that....
I guarantee If you pulled the head and look at the valves it would look all "gunked" up with carbon buildup. Carbon build up will cause MPG loss, Power Loss and can eventually bring a motor to it's end. Sometimes sooner then others and others longer then some. It is really just basic/common knowledge of combustion engines.

All of this carbon stuff can form in place such as the valves, ports, pistons, head gasket and piston rings. It can interfere with normal combustion in several way such as altering the engines operating temperature, compression ratios an even mess us sensor readings.

Correct. I havent seen anywhere that any posted the engine would die.....it is the gradual degredation of performance and fuel economy.

Best thing if anyone doubts of any of this, stop into the shop and we will remove your intake manifold free and clean it and the TB ($250-$450 at dealer) and show you in person your own car on the boroscope. No debate then.....no denying any of it. See it with your own eyes and also see these motors in different stages of tear down and rebuild.....not many have been into these as much as we are.

That good enough for the doubters?

Nice offer but it's too far to travel.

Wish you were down the street! Since your not. Answer me this...will a borescope snake thru the throttle body to see the gunk or do I have to pull it apart? When I go to add the can I wanted to see how bad it gets at only 3000 miles......

HMM... I wonder if I could talk my wife into taking a "Vacation to Florida" in the near future. I wonder how long the offer will be available, I would hate to take a trip down there during hurricane season though.

I have heard of stories oil leaks when adding a 'catch can' onto the system, so that's why I'm reluctant to use one.

First off, at Harbor Frieght you can now get a boroscope for less than $100. On a LLT just remove the plenum cover and you can snake it down a runner to see the valves very easily. It will tell you just how bad it may be.

slvrbulit, if you install the can properly there is no way to cause an oil leak...virtually impossible. But if you hook one up backwards you can block the flow of pressure and will cause a leak, but rarely is it anything but temporary and ceases when you hook it up correctly.

I would do a search here and read the catchcan threads to get a good education on their function.

So just got my Camaro back last night from the dealer, New injectors, valves, o2 sensor and cat. I will see if this is the right fix. She seems to be running good, but I still have my fingers crossed

Did you install a good functioning catchcan to avoid this in the future?

Bumping this back up for those that have not read all to see instead of posting it all over again.
