Can't say I agree with his choice of mods....especially those lambo doors. But if GM did not do their due diligence to notify him of a recall, they owe this guy a car. However, if the guy was notified and he was just lazy and didn't bring it in....tough luck.

LOL at that Obama comment.

If he bought the car new from a dealer then the dealer should have sent a recall letter, I not sure about sending letter when buying used. If he did not get the letter then GM should buy another 2010 SS and let him make the payments on that.

I feel bad for the guy but,
Thats why we pay every month for Insurance.
Accidents happen, who ever fault this is, he needs to have his insurance take care of this.

If the insurance paid the loan off don't they own the car now, and if they did it wouldn't be in his driveway, Is the car a total lose, it must be they paid it off or he would be getting the insurance to repair it. Something is off here.

Given he has some admitted financial issues, maybe he didn't pay his insurance premium and is on the hook for the repair/loss himself. That could be why he wants something for nothing.

Got it Covered

No worries Allay can finance it,& they are backed by Fanny and Freddy and the good old U.S. Gov. They have a whole lot of experience with financing those with questionable credit.

Am I missing something? I feel like I'm missing something. Does he not have insurance....and if a know defect in the vehicle caused the problem, wouldn't GM be on the hook somehow for a warranty claim?

Why would he be on the hook for this, unless he was stupid enough to not have insurance, or modded it, or pulled something else.

Or is insurance just paying off the old loan, and no one will give him a new one due to a change in credit history.

Has anyone considered that the O.P. has been made whole by his insurance. And now his insurance company may very well be pursuing GM for liability since they are financially on the hook for paying the claim.

I think the guy was paid out by insurance. He's not asking for a hand-out, he's simply asking that GM finance his new Camaro with his less than stellar credit now that he's not working based on the fact that he was in good standing on his previous (burnt up) vehicle loan.

Personally, I don't think that's too much to ask considering if the vehicle didn't have the defect it would not have burnt up in his driveway, and he'd still have a vehicle, and making payment. So, really other than the fact that the vehicle is fried, giving him a new finance deal shouldn't be that much of an issue.

the recall your talking about was for the positive cable on the right lower engine and installing insulating material around it i dont remember seeing one for the left side jumper connection and the recall was for early 2010 camaro everything built after may i believe was installed during the build of the car since then. With the after market installs on the car any number of electrical problems may have caused this fire
