Dewalt or Milwaukee - impact wrench

Looking to get a impact wrench for my son who just got a job as a mechanic/tech assistant.

The Dewalt is a DCF880M2 and the Milwaukee is a M18 - 2655-22

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these. Seems like the Dewalt is a little less cost but I have always had good use out of Milwaukee tools....thanks for any replies.

Those are both toys for the professional. The IR W7150 blows both of them out of the water. Impact guns are all about torque and blows per minute. If you're only options are the two you listed, I would go with the Milwaukee.

I have used the Dewalt for about 5 years. No issues at all. Still works like the day I bought it.

Im a tech, pretty much the entire shop uses makita. They last forever, I'm on my second set in 7 years. But it gets used 10-14hrs a day so they are bound to wear out, or get dropped in a coolant drain pan...

Recently I purchased a matco cordless ratchet, their expensive 1/4" drive model. It's been very unimpressive. Speed is poor as is the breakaway torque, however batter life is solid. It can last for a couple days. Go with snap on for a cordless ratchet, they are much much better but also $100 more than matco.

I use the Milwaukee 2762-22...

I haven't run into anything it can't handle. Its about even with the IR W7150 that was mentioned earlier in the thread..My brother in law has the 7150 and it is definitely lighter, but I think my Milwaukee is a little more powerful.

I dropped a Dewalt impact 20 ft onto concrete and the damn thing worked perfectly. Dewalt has my vote.

The 2762-22 isnt even close to as powerful as the W7150 IR. It makes 780ft-lbs in forward and 1100ft-lbs in reverse. The 2762-22 is only 600ft-lbs.

Thanks guys, ended up with the Dewalt, just couldn't beat the sale they were running on them. Acually it was such a good deal I picked him up a impact driver also.

The shop he is working at has air and high torque cordless wrenches for the guys to use, so he was looking for something compact and light weight.

You can't go wrong with Dewalt. I have a very large arsenal that all perform well. I love the impact driver.

Sorry I was wrong on my part number, I didn't get pin detent I got the friction ring model and that is the 2763-22..

Its specs are 700 ft-lbs forward and 1100ft-lbs reverse. just a little lower on fastening. Equal on loosening.

Didn't even know the pin detent vs friction ring caused a drop of that much. Either way, both good guns and like I said, the IR is much lighter than my Milwaukee.
