Bridgestone run-flats for SS out this fall?

A friend said that Bridgestone is coming out with some high performance run-flats thatl fit the RS?SS. Anyone heard about that. My P-Zeros are getting there and I wouldn't mind having run-flats for my next set of tires.

I would maybe consider them too, depends on how much they cost and the wear rating. If they are going to wear out in 12,000 of normal use (5000 they way I drive) then no.

Run flats typically don't perform all that well compared to comprable non-run flat tires. I know some guys that drive Vettes and they couldn't wait to get their run flats off their cars and get non- run flats.

Run flats are expensive as hell and makes for a harder ride and are heavier. they are probably gonna be close to $500 a piece.

I got a spare tire for my ss. No need for run flats. Too pricey and I'm not gonna wait god knows how long for service to my car for flat. I don't care if it's 40lbs heavier for it it's worth it to me. You get a sidewalk cut on a tire, no fixaflat in the world will repair that and you're not only stuck buying a new tire but also towing fees.

Their grip performance stinks compared to normal performance tires. Also if you ride it anywhere close to the 50 mile limit while flat your tire will need to be fully replaced instead of patched anyways. And what are the odds your local tire store will have a replacement in stock?

Sounds cool, but I'd rather just keep my spare.

don't know about corvettes but run flats in general lock you into few manufactuers, high prices and limited choices and don't last very long. We had these on our honda mini van, we recently swapped them out and had to swap out the rims and everything but was still cheaper than replacing the damn run flat tires.

Have had Bridgestone Run Flats on 2 prior BMW's and overall hated them for noise, longevity, performance and cost. Just replaced Bridgestones RF's with Pirellis on the Mini.

However have to admit they probably did save my azz one time. Hit unmarked Road Construction on highway where they cutout a patch of pavement and did pizzpoor job of covering it. Hit edge very hard It felt nasty. It appeared fine but noticed later it had a bubble on sidewall. Took it to shop and there was a split app 8" long inside but the thing never lost one bit of pressure. No doubt a "regular" tire would have shredded on spot.

Were those BMW's OE equipped with RF tires? I'd never suggest ever running RF tires on a vehicle that was not designed to have them, as you will have the exact issues you mentioned in your post. They will ride, sound and feel absolutely terrible.
