newbie questions
hello, i havent been watching the progress of the new camaro at all. my brother inlaw that works for gm showed me a picture of the car and i fell in love instanly. ive never been a chevy guy,,,,might be changing soon,,lol.
i know im gona HAVE to get a ss version of the camaro. i dont have a complete understanding of the difrent motors in the two versions. if i wanted to modify the stock motors,,,which one could be pushed harder without any modifications to the bottom end? and how far can they be pushed? |

Basically there are three engines offered, a V6 and two V8's, an L99 and an LS3.
The two V8's are offered on the 1SS and 2SS packages with the L99 paired with the 6sp automatic and the LS3 paired with a Tremec TR6060 6sp manual transmission. As far as I know, the LS3 would be the best base to customize with power-adders.

Gotcha. Well I think you might have to wait until some 2SS owners get their cars and play around a little bit or maybe some one a little more engine and tranny savvy could come in and help. Until then you can check out the HPE700 Camaro with 705 HP an 717 lb-ft torque by hennessey here

Ok... either way do you mind me throwing it out there so he can look and maybe just maybe make his own decisions? Thanks. I dont care either way because I could never afford it. He did ask for vehicle limitations though and that kind of gets him poitned in the right direction. Relax..

welcome, research as much as you can to make a reasonable choice. Most of us here are power junkies and the V8 is the weapon of choice. The V6 is is no slouch and as milk says, there will be all kinds of mods for that motor that will make a lot of V8's look retarded.
I find it funny you drive a boob |
