Do you know how they verify this information?

You can't do anything with out proof of insurance around here. You even have to have coverage to get your drivers license renewed.

I have always had continuing coverage. I have worked with people that have gone through the lapse thing. They get insurance for 1 month to get their car inspected or whatever, then they drop it, which pisses me off because I can't afford to have them hit me. The next time they need to get it done they are paying more then last time because they had a lapse in coverage and this is what the insurance companies are telling them.

What?

Now I am really confused.... Can insurance agents basically give whoever they want super good deals? I keep seeing people posting REALLY REALLY low monthly quotes and $0? That's like the best full coverage plan that would cost me $500/month

I am also 27. I also have not had a personal car for about 2 years since I'm always on call for work and just have to drive my popo car around. I got $119 a month through state farm. Full coverage witha 1k deductable. You can definately find better.

It's most likely due to having insurance coverage lapse - especially for 3 years. It's definitely a red flag... but you can definitely find better rates than what you were quoted even with that. I'd check with the insurance companies and see if the company you work for can provide proof of coverage for the last 3 years.

Just for the record...

I pay $252.00 a month for full coverage on 3 cars and a boat. '03 suburban, '04 Monte Carlo, '08 Charger, and a '00 Glastron fish and ski boat. I don't expect my rates to go up much if any since the '04 Monte Carlo is being traded in on the Camaro.

I have State Farm and they also quoted me $75 a month, but I also have multicar discount and my homeowners with them...that helps...besides the fact that I'm 42...getting older does pay off sometimes.

I tried to get quotes through Progressive and Geico and the amount per month for full coverage on the SS1 is around $275 and the V6 is around $220. I have a clean driving record no tickets or accidents and cannot figure out why these quotes are so insane....

Does anyone know how to possibly prove or show that I have had insurance through my company's leased vehicles or am I SOL? This is the only reason I can think these rates are so high unless its because Baltimores insurance rates are this bad.

If I cannot get insurance at a reasonable rate of around $150 a month I am just going to have to drive something else as much as I had my mind set on this car.
You can obtain a letter of experience from your fleet manager(who will request it from the insurance carrier). Use this as your proof of insurability for the last several years. Your employer did pay to have you insured as a driver. On commercial auto policies they do underwrite the drivers so there is a record of you having been insured. Be careful who you get advice from. Most do not know their ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to the ins and outs of auto insurance and that includes some licensed agents as well.

But then again I am 17....

And I'm still not sure who to go through It seems to everyone, a 17 year old that bought his own V8 Camaro would drive it fast, but I mean, come on! I'm a teenager, I don't drive fast.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm in Florida.....might ahve something to do with it?
See if your dad will add it to his policy, and have him as the primary driver, and you as secondary. Then just pay him the difference.

It depends on where you live, cities have higher quotes then rural areas.

Just turned 25 and I live in a rural town with a pop of 3-4k if that much. $0 deductible and $50k/$100k liability and I was quoted at $100 a month for the SS and $85 a month for the LT from State Farm.
