Power increase after tune with cam?
Hey guys just wondering if you guys had a baseline number after your cam install and how much was the gain after the tune. Should I expect to pick up power across the bored? I never had the car even tuned for the headers so I am thinking there is allot to gain at this point. Not shure what to expect.

I think you'll gain quite a bit. My cam in my car is big enough that I really couldn't even put the throttle down with the old tune in there, so I don't know what to tell you, but I'm sure your going to see your AFR and spark are off from optimal until the car is tuned.

It depends on the cam you chose and how good your tuner is. Ballpark 35 to 80 rwhp so as you can see it is a big spread as well as it will vary as to what other existing mods are done.

pretty sure people are not really understanding what the OP wants. he is looking for gains from a TUNE. this can be a hard question to answer because most of our cams cannot run on stock tune. he already has a cam in with headers. but wondering how much the tune will add.

On the subject what were the gains from the tunes with your boltons? Was the tune a bigger impact then the headers?

But as was mentioned, the OP is asking that since he is able to drive his car with the stock tune and the cam he chose, and it actually has worked out well for him...how much will he gain with a tune. There is absolutely no way he'll gain ANOTHER 80+ horsepower from tuning it...probably 20-30, but maybe a little less since the cam is fairly mild and the stock tune reacted well to it already.

It is running VERY rich, it actually burns my eyes sometimes Since I never had a tune for the headers, I am hopping to have a different car once this done.

It all depends on how well your car is running with the stock tune.
More aggressive cams will need more tuning and your gains will be greater with tuning. Less aggresssive cams (closer to stock specs) will need less tuning and your gains will be smaller with tuning. |

Whatever way you look at it YOU need a tune! I would rather have the timing and afr right then both all over the place and risk damaging my engine. Like washing down the cylinders being that rich! You'll really be crying when it shows some rods some sunlight lol. Do mods the right way with a tune and not listen to people on here by saying you dont really need a tune for some crazy reason. Ps and take it to a reputable shop also.

you probably have less horsepower than stock with headers and cam with stock tune.

The car IS getting tuned in 2 days! I guarantee it's making allot more then stock right now, definitely not running to potential but it's way faster. I haven't been beating on it much and lately I have been babying it so it's all good, just a few days to go!
