Sprintbooster

Has anyone installed a sprintbooster on thier Camaro? I had one on my BMW135 Dinan and it was one of the best Mods I ever did to any car. I was just saw a test on TV they put one on a Jeep and picked up a 10th of a second on each pass I had not thought about putting it on the Camaro because it was not a Turbo but I had such luck with it I just checked it out and they do sell it for the SS so I will be buying one Monday.

People on the BMW forum used to think it was a waste and at every meet I would take it out of my car in 3 minutes and put it in theirs and they bought one that day it makes that kind of difference in throttle response. The new ones even have some kind of switch to go between normal, sport and race so I cannot wait to see what it is like. I will post a review when I get it and if anyone does have it on there SS let me know what you think. Thanks

I personally would spend the same amount of money on a custom tune but thats just me. A better throttle response for $300+ rip off.

Complete waste of money. It doesn't make you any faster.

I have a tune and I had a Dinan tune on the BMW and it made a big difference in the way the car drove. I had the same reaction on the BMW forum until people tried it and they could not believe the difference.

Sorry man but this ain't no BMW. I had a 2007 BMW 335i and I loved it though performance parts were costly for them so I went the other route American Muscle more horsepower for less money. You said you have a tune on the Camaro? Is it a custom tune or a canned tune?

The car "feels" faster because it changes the throttle position in relation to the gas pedal position. It still doesn't make it any faster so IMO it's useless.

I know what it does it takes away the hesitation of the car. I know I did not like driving my 135 without the sprintbooster in the car so it was well worth it in my eyes and I ran faster 1/4 miles with the sprintbooster in the auto 135 because the hesitation was not there the reaction times were better. Mark my words I will by it and after going to a few meets and putting it in other owners cars there will be quite a few converts.

Worked well in the Challenger before we tuned it. Chrysler fly by wire system leaves a bit to be desired, as does BMW's.
However on the Camaro I don't believe it's necessary at all.

Go ahead don't listen to us on the forum and waste your money. Your not going to convert me and I'm pretty sure not many on this forum either

Not really. It's not a power adder.
On some cars the signal between the accel pedal and the TB plate could stand to be 'tweaked" to make the plate respond faster to the input of the pedal. The fly by wire system in the BMW's and the Chryslers have a progressive feel to them, with a bit of delay. A good tuner with a Diablo can tune it out of the Chrysler, but I'm unaware of any such solution for the BMW.
The Sprint Booster intercepts the signal and advances it a bit, fooling the TB plate to open faster / further than the stock calibration, that's all. It does make those cars more "responsive" to accel pedal input, making them more enjoyable to drive.

As I originally stated though, the Camaro doesn't seem to need a recalibration in it's tps response.
