Do you have one of those buddies.....
Do you have one of those buddies who ALWAYS seems to get the "deal-of-a-lifetime" on whatever they seem to run across??? I do!!!
After haggelling with the seller for a week or so, my buddy just bought a 1968 Z/28 project car for $14k. Everything is numbers matching, except for the transmission (which just happens to be a '68 Muncie M-22....so it's kind of hard to complain). Very little rust, new GM fenders, and lots of "blue" GM boxes with NOS parts!!! Supposedly, everything is there, just needs to be put back together. Original "MO" 302 included, but was bored .030. He's going to trailer it back to his garage this evening!!! Oh, and the Protect-o-Plate is included too!!! Yet another bonus!!! He just kills me with these deals he finds!!! I'm happy for him, but extremely jealous right now too!!! Oh, and get this....the seller showed my buddy a set of "GM" Headers he had for the '68 Z, brand new still in the GM boxes, never mounted to an engine!!! He said that they were NOT included with the car. But of course, my buddy is going to try to buy those from the guy too. Those headers are worth a FORTUNE!!!! Nice find! Still going to cost a fortune to get the car on the road again. Unless he did all the work himself. At least its a car that will be valuable when done being matching #

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he will do everything himself, except probably paint. He has owned several 1st Gens in the past, including three other '68/Z's and a '69 396 Z10 hardtop pacecar. He is very knowledgeable on the 1st Gens, and has pretty much taught me everything I know. So, I know he wouldn't buy a basket case. Not sure if he's going to keep this one, or turn it for profit like all the rest. The Corvette Bronze color looks kinda weird to me, kinda "Tomato Soupy"!!! But I suppose it's a bit of a rare color. Either way, I'm still jealous!!!

That's awesome! If people swap cars a lot then they'll end up finding some good deals like that '68 Z28!
Also happens to be a project 1968 Z28 in my area on craiglist right now, rust free original body original tranny but no motor. He wants 25k!!! http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/3706728935.html

I love the British Racing Green w/ White Stripes!!! Just about my favorite color combo!!! But yeah, that $25k price is a bit high without an engine!!! Guess it depends on the condition of the rest of the car....which looks to be pretty nice.

This is a '67 on ePay for almost $30K:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/rs-z-...orcev4exp=true Was relisted for a bit less, though. Gone, now. May have sold locally? RS. Loves me some 1968 Z/28 RSs!!! Saw one for sale that is the same color as mine. Plus, it had original headers, never mounted, included in the trunk just like the one you mentioned! An older restoration and wanted $80K+. MacNeish certified. Though, he said the car was worth $55K at the time when I asked him...

I have friends who are lucky too but a matching number 1st gen' Camaro is worth gold anymore so that was not a bad deal imo.

My dad has a had a 67 big block rs/ss for about 12 years. About 10 years ago he took it all apart and ordered all original GM parts that came with the car. He still hasn't found time to restore it but when he does that car will be worth crazy money.
