Had my timing chain replaced under warranty earlier this year.

Had the check engine light come on for a day or so and then would go off on it's own for a few days. Then would come back...initially seemed to be when it was raining out .

After a few cycles like this started to notice the power loss and took it into the dealer. Sure enough it was the timing chain and covered under warranty.

so it has been happening in the Camaro... perhaps just not as much as in the other vehicles with the LLT...

My concern with the Acadia was what happens after the warranty is up... Wife only had 20,000 miles left on the warranty and had already had the the chains replaced twice!

yeah...this chain issue really sucks....I almost wish mine would just go out now if it has one of the older "weaker" chains. I don't want to do this after my warranty is dead.

Is there a way using just your VIN to check your build date? It's cold outside

doesn't matter... my insider says the issue isn't going to be fixed until next year.. which is why we didn't buy another Acadia...

Look down on the left side of the enigne bay as you stand over your open hood. Between the fuse box and the enigne cover.

I know this post is old.. However, we bought a 2010 LT Camaro 2 weeks ago. I drove it to work, parked it and came out after my shift and "check engine" light was on. The codes come back to the timing chain. Now it's a wait and see game to see if that's the only hiccup.

Assuming the 5 year powertrain warranty transfers to you, you should be covered. Best of luck.

I ran into this thread doing research because the 2010 Camaro RS I just bought had the check engine light come on and the code is for the timing chain. It's going to be looked at hopefully tomorrow by where I bought it. I think maybe GM should add Camaro to the list of problem timing chains.....

I did my chains myself at 117,000? What is the going rate to do them? I have 192,000 miles on it right now and bought the chains as a 15 piece kit online. Only chime if you actually know what it costs to do a Camaro, I don't care what your brother's best friend at work cousin said it cost in their Cadillac , etc.
