Clunking noise with newly installed Ridetech coilovers

As the title says, I just I stalled the Ridetech coilovers in the front and took it for a test drive. Is it normal to hear clunking noise going over little bumps on the road? But when I get on the freeway it isn't as bad.

...Yes....I get the same thing....Not much can be done...I've learned to live with it...Like you say, it's only on little bumps at relatively low speed....

I assume you have the top camber bearing.....just make sure that is ok, not too loose...good luck...

thanks for the input 90503. I was afraid that it was normal. We'll see if they stay on the ride....unless I learn to live with it...

Did you drop the car more than one inch? Just wondering how much the springs are compressed in regards to the spring perch.

Also where did you purchase them, & what was the shipping time?

All the best,

yes the car was dropped more than 1 in. I purchased them through Apex-speed nearly a year ago. I just finally got a chance to install them.

Just spoke with kyle@ridetech and he gave me some info on how to get rid of the noise.... Hopefully tightening up the end links will help with the noise

When you lowered the car 1 1/2 in.did you have to add the rear after-market camber bolts to the lower control arms to get within factory specifications?

Thanks for the information thus far. I recently purchased 19 in. wheels for my 2010 SS/RS & now need to lower it by 1 1/2 in. as well!

All The best,

No, I didn't add any camber bolts....I run 19" track tires and wheels also, and didn't want to go too low and have problems with the rear axles being on a bad angle....But I'm within "range" as I recall for the over-all height so this is not a problem...(Sorry, can't recall what that measurement is...)...

I had an alignment shop do the install....If I recall rear is about a 1.5 camber, front is 2 degree camber....I have Z-L1 rear lower control arms...don't know if that made any difference or not with needing rear camber bolts....

Here's my "before"...

After...

Hey, your Camaro looks fantastic! What size wheels & tires are you running, & who are the wheels made by? Also do you know what the wheel offsets are?

I really appreciate the help thus far.

Hey, thanks for all the great photo's. I am also going to add the REAR 2012 ZL1 lower control arms, end links, sway bar & brackets at the same time that I am installing the Ride Tech Coil Overs.

Do you by any chance have the GM Part numbers for these items & where did you purchase them? Also do you have an LS3 or an L99 car? I have an L99 2 SS/RS with the 6L80 six speed auto. & heard that they will over heat if you use them on the track. What is your opinion on this?

I would love to do some track days with the car after the new suspension is installed, but I do not want to damage the transmission in the process.

All The Best,

Orange 2010 Camaro

I ordered the parts from MaureenM@RogersChevrolet ....P/Ns may have changed over the years....Shouldn't be too hard for you to look them up on gmpartsdirect or gmwarehouse, or ask Maureen....May want to look at aftermarket as well....A lot of good set-ups available now that may not have been around when I got mine...

....But I thought at the time the GM upgrade was reasonably priced at the time a few years ago....

As far as auto trans, I don't know what to tell you.....I'm sure it's doable but you'd be better served talking to guys who use autos....Mine is a manual....Good luck....
