Mean people suck! I hope they get some punishment, but for sure they will not get what they deserve! I am glad the officer was there to see them.

Some people should not be allowed to breathe, or breed.

If they own there home there home owners insurance may cover this. A fews years back I was sitting in my car doing paperwork and a cart got away from an older gentelman and it rolled into my car. Got a police report. Later that week got a call from allstate, his homeowners, to bring my car in for appraisal. Received a check on the spot for $4xx and change. Just something to keep in mind. I would have never thought of such a thing.

Tip: Park as far away from Cars, Carts, etc...as you can. It's good exercise.

The damage to the car, from the what the article says, most likely was accidental... Careless but accidental. Leaving the scene of the accident on the other hand...

Well, I don't believe a shopping cart falls under the category of "vehicle" in most states, so I doubt hit-and-run type charges would apply. Perhaps something along the lines of vehicle tampering may apply.

you are correct, it would be stretch to apply it in MN. Tampering though also requires intent... I'm guessing this is why the police are advising they have a strong civil case...

Maybe there's some lesser vandalism type code with "wanton disregard" as part of the crime element rather than "willfully" or with "intent" in it. I know If there's one in CA, I personally don't know it.
