Looking for a... "modernized" version of these wheels?
Well, anyone who's an old Knight Rider fan will recognize these. IMO, the heritage wheels come close to this look in their stock form (stock silver trim rings specifically), especially at a distance. But.... they're steel, and I know I could PROBABLY do better, but since my car is themed after KARR from the old Knight Rider, I wouldn't want to stray too far either from the original pic or mine. Ideas please?

what could be done......would be to have some snap on black discs that would go on top pf your current wheels to simulate that style.

I have seen a pic or 2 floating around where they actually used that wheel on a 5th Gen.. not sure if it was photoshopped though. It didn't look quite right since the wheels on the original Firebird were 14's, I'm not necessarily looking to replicate the original, just... enhance it maybe?
I'm not opposed to aluminum either.. just trying to see what else could be out there... |

if you could find some 18" MOON DISC's and then have them either powdered coated black, or paint them.....it would be close.

Hmm, moon discs would be interesting... I found a pic of the original KITT and the Mustang one side by side... I realize they are 2 completely different styles of wheel, but maybe there's a convergence somewhere...?

Here's a photoshop I found with the KITT wheels on a Camaro... the nose is totally different too but you get the idea...

Another thought I had was doing something along the style of the ZL1, or the 1LE wheels (which I think are the same?)...

If you said "looking for modernized version of Knight Rider wheels", maybe only 40 or so people would have looked. Good luck with the search. Looks like it may be a custom, one off deal if you decide to get serious about having those. You could always spray paint a Frisbee black and super glue it to the wheel! |

Yeah, one off is probably what it would have to be... so, looks like plan B will have to go into effect... I'm sure that a one off would NOT be cheap! Although the Moon Eyes COULD be the answer... they would have to be powder coated in black of course. If not, well, the original KARR has been dead for some 25 yrs or so... times change. |
