sad day today california

another round of big lay offs this year to our education. last year was bad, this year is worse. my district has served notice to all administrators at every school, and my school has 10 teachers getting lay off notices today. if you are not already aware, the system is in seriously bad shape.

Yes, it is sad. Money for many other things that just don't have the priority that Education should!! This state is going downhill...faster now.

Sad indeed, the state as a whole is in bad shape. Hard to say any more without it getting political. I own a small business and have had to layoff workers and reduce salary and benefits, it hurts...

Sorry to hear the bad news.

The City and county of San Francisco are sending out 15,000 pink slips today; :(my wife and I both expect to receive one; with the possibilty of being rehired in the near future; but hey, there are some possitive things happening; like tomorrow TREASURE ISLAND CAMARO5 MEET BABY. For once my wife says I can burn rubber on city property (TI) even.

I'm really sorry to hear about this all and yes, I think education should indeed get more funding.

Funny how we only lay off the the teachers who do the work and keep ALL the administrators with cars, cell phones, expense accounts, & staff?

They need to keep the Teachers and trim the Bureaucracy at the top that does nothing in the classroom.

Can we privatize elementary education?

The system is just too broken.

yeah it gets personal when I have to pay about 10K a year out of my own pocket.

Now I'm not getting any financial aid at all next year.

Well we need to make sure every Illegal Alien has access to FREE medical, education, and housing. It's really no big deal.. after all, the hard working tax payers handle the bill.

Go to the immigration and naturalization office and give up your US citizenship. Then you will qualify for a ton of freebies, won't have to pay taxes anymore, and will never have to call your doctor to set up an appointment when u are sick again and won't have to pay any deductible anymore because you will then be able to just go straight to any hospital emergency for any and all ailments and not have to pay anything at all, and you won't have to have car insurance anymore.
