Borla Atak + long tube headers. What do you think?

I have a Borla Atak Catback and I was planning on buying long tube headers. I would like to hear you opinion. What do you think? Is it too loud ( in a bad way)?

From everything I've read about that setup it's going to be really loud. Some will like that, some won't.

The ATAK was acoustically designed for stock...

Yes, there are some guys that have ATAK with LTs and love it. It seems a bit raspy to me and it is very, very loud. With that said, I have can name off a handful of people that sold their ATAK mufflers and swapped back to touring or S type.

+1

I'm one of those people. The ATAK catback is badass with manifolds, but after I added LT's it was just obnoxious, and not in a good way. The deep muscle car tone is gone, replaced with this horrible, raspy scream. I just sold the ATAK from the axle-back and bought an S-type axleback. Bolted right up to the leftover Borla pipes. Now the sound is still way loud at WOT, but is so deep at idle that I can feel the bass from inside my house.

It is not that bad!
What about short headers? Is it different from long tube in terms of sound with borla Atak?

Haha. I shot the video in my garage and only revved it to about 4k because the sound was ear-splitting bouncing off of the walls. No way computer speakers can recreate it. That being said, if you like the sound of a NASCAR stock car and can handle it any time you drive, then it might be for you.

Shorties will be quieter, but IMHO you won't see enough performance gains from them to justify even putting them on.

Here's a video of my 2012 with LTs and Borla S-type. I have no cats, but a pair of high-flows will make the note even deeper...

Sounds alot better IMO. I agree that the ATAK with LT's is a bit annoying/obnoxious, but with the S Type its just right.
