I know this does not help you but it might help the next person.
In Florida you pay the same sales tax as on anything else. Therefore it is 6% for state tax and in Dade count you have an extra 1% on the first $5,000 of value (might be first $6,000 in am not sure which) |

Also this does not include the registration fee.

Its different in every state, but you only pay the base state sales tax. In Texas its 6.25%.

Tx, hate to contradict, I don't know anything about Texas but in Florida you pay the base state tax plus any local tax in the county in which you reside. In Florida you would pay this same tax even ig you bought the car out of state. When you register the car in FL you pay the tax.

Washington is the same. I can get a car much cheaper by driving 30 miles north of Seattle, but I still have to pay the King County tax when I register my car. Some people rent a P.O. Box in another county so they can register their car and avoid the tax. I've also heard of people putting down a friend's address in Oregon and register the car there to pay less (no?) tax.
Tax is a bi-otch but there are ways around it. |

I think NY is like 7.5%. But everyone is right...regaurdless of where you buy the car, you will pay your county's tax rates.
