Would A Tune Help Wake Up My ZL1?

I don't want to change the appearance of my vehicle under the hood ( no cold air cleaner, no headers, etc) but I wondered if anybody has had their car tuned in stock form. Did you really benefit in any way (performance, gas mileage etc.).

Minimal gains... not worth the loss of warranty...

2013 has a 5yr/100k powertrain warranty.

JRE125 RWHP kit is where it's at to start to feel the full potential of the LSA engine...

Don't waste your money on tuning an other wise stock engine. However if you must feel change it will provide some...

Another option I've never tried them but heard work pretty darn well is a Vitesse throttle controller. http://www.vitesse-motorsports.com/e...my-vehicle.htm

Basically it just speeds up/eliminates as much time between cruising throttle percentage (Lets say 10%) and wide open throttle (100%) as possible, and supposedly makes your car a lot snappier.

Now if you genuinely want your car to be faster, you'll need to do things that will change the appearance of your engine. Intake, headers, pulleys, etc.

Put a new set of plugs in and put a K&N air filter on it...

Why plugs, most of these vehicles are low mileage, not yet ready for plug change. Mine has <9k on it.

You didn't state the mileage in your initial post...You also stated that you wanted the appearance to remain the same under the hood...Plugs can go bad at any time...You wouldn't have any significant gain from a $500 -$700 dyno tune...You were also discussing your vehicle specific...So what do you expect to get as responses???

None of this is of any benefit or at least not what you appear to be looking for...

Fresh plugs never hurt a car especially one that's been sitting and has such low miles...

I mean other than the most basic maintenance he should change his oil, put some plugs in, and a aftermarket air filter that may allow the car to breath a bit better, and some 93oct top tier gas...Can'tHave2MuchHP do you really want to start this again???

What I said was helpful and was what he needed to hear. No I don't want to start "this" again. Don't even bother coming after me with that kind of bullshit.

Keeping the stock look is great, you can do our 50 RWHP upgrade package, 10% lower pulley, and related hardware, and an SCT tuner with JRE custom tuning total sleeper package.

No one sees the lower pulley unless they know what they are looking for.

Feel free to give me a call with any questions.

Ted.

10% Lower pulley, or, AND a smooth idle camshaft with springs, and then a tune would be useful. A said a tune on a stock vehicle wouldn't do much. You could probably get near 100 crank horsepower with the pulley cam and tune.

My Janetty racing 10% pulley and CAI just arrived and I haven't installed them yet, but I also am anxious to unleash another 100hp from the engine.

I'm with you, my similar JRE kit, except with 2" headers, arrives tomorrow and it will be a couple weeks until I have time to install it but I can't wait!
