P.S. Over 3000 kms on mine without issue

i think the just incase money is for any unexpected expenses, not just car repair

That is always good advice, but it is a double edged sword too. Sometimes the first year of a product is the best because the engineers and manufactures start to think of ways to make the product cheaper to make. They start to trim here, cut there...

I'm not sure that the previous models would be very relevant to what you should expect if you buy a 2010. The last one made was in 2002, and the 2010 is a completely new car from the ground up. Since 2002 GM's overall build quality has improved (as have most manufacturers). If you want to compare a 2002 Camaro to a 2002 Mustang, I'd say that the GM powertrain was FAR better in every respect, including reliability, but the fit and finish of the interior and accessories was probably not as good as the Ford. Things like window motors and interior rattles, etc.

But again, I really don't think that's a very good predictor of what kind of experience you'd have with a 2010. GM has changed a lot in the past 8 years model years.

Oh, and one other thing: my 1991 Camaro (5.0L V8) has over 200,000 miles and NO MAJOR ISSUES. It's had nothing but routine maintenance issues. The motor and transmission have never been opened, and it's still on the stock clutch. It starts on the first try every time. And, it sure as heck has not been babied its whole life. See if you can find a '91 Mustang owner who can say that!

The only real problem i've had with any of my Camaro's is the OTPI on the 95 Z28, otherwise it's just normal wear and tear items. The 87 has over 300,000 miles on it, and now the valve seals in the little 2.8 V6 are starting to leak a bit. As long as you take care of your CAMARO, it'll take care of you....

You're right. I don't want to dump my whole savings on a car and something pops up in the future. Got two years of college left and I work retail in a shaky economy. I'm driving a family car now because my car is getting ready to go out on me, on my fourth engine and it's a 94. That's why I've been asking these types of questions had a bad first car experiance.

I have to agree with what so many others have said. The 2010 is not a simple refresh or upgrade to the previous Camaro, it is an entirely different vehicle. It would be meaningless to compare the two vehicles.

The Mustang has been built the same way since 2005. The only change is that it got some new body panels. It is exactly the same, and it has been refined since 2005. The 2010 Camaro is completely new. If you're going to compare it to a car, then you need to look at a 5-year-old Mustang. The first year of the new Mustang involved significant changes to an existing car, but it is the closest you can get to a recent sports car with similar proportions and power for the sake of comparing it to a fresh competitor.

The Camaro is brand new and has some kinks. If anything is wrong with yours, then GM will fix it. You'd be lucky to have one of the cars that finds its way from the rail yard to a house instead of the blue oval that gets trapped on the lot for days before sale. Alternatively, you should get the car that screams to you. If you would rather have a Mustang, then someone who appreciates that Camaro will take it instead.
