2014 Hood Insert??
Only had my car for a couple of weeks, but after looking at the hood insert, there doesn't really appear to be any real ventilation outlets. The tray under it channels water, to track the car and get any real cooling aero advantages are people going to remove the tray or get out the dremel ?
Maybe I missed the venting design, seems cosmetic, LMK thx |

It is essentially to extract the heat. The vents do their job as I can see the heat waves coming out of it once the engine is warmed up.

It also reduces under hood pressure

If you take the tray off the bottom you will notice it moves a lot more air. I have already done this, its easy, just remove the 6 or 8 clips underneath the tray. remember to put back a couple clips to hold the hood liner in place afterwards.

This pic shows it working well on a Z/28. Is the pan removed on them?

The Z/28 is suppose to have larger openings in the vent.
Ha! Sorry it is so large

Nope. Same exact size - except it's finish in carbon fiber instead.

This is correct, however the z28 also does not utilize the pan.

Anyone here ride around town without the pan, or only on track day?

Without the pan do not drive it in the rain. You will cover your engine with water and short something out. The idea of the pan is to drain the water away from the engine.

I have mine off 100% of the time, driving in the rain I haven't had problems with the engine compartment being wet at all, I think that is because it's moving so much air through it. When it sits in the rain the CAI tube is wet and the belts a little but it dries after a few min when engine gets warm. The belly ban is the thing that I noticed has kept the engine compartment the cleanest.
