How long will it take?

Anyone want to share your thoughts on how long it will take from TPW to Code 6000?
That's delivered to customer. I am thinking 3 to 4 weeks. What do you think? I am at Code 2000 now and believe it will go to 2500 next week.

I know that but I said 6000=Delivered to customer

Order status codes:
1100 = Preliminary Order (Order passed GM edit tables but dealers has not received allocation to place order)
2000 = Accepted By GM (Dealer used allocation to place order into production)
2500 = Preferenced (Order pulled to the production system)
3000 = Accepted By Production Control (Order input into the production system)
3100 = Sequenced (Order sequenced for Production)
3300 = Scheduled For Production (Order is scheduled into the plant build cycle)
3400 = Broadcast (Order is sent to various build & supplier areas to bring order together)
3800 = Produced (Order is built and VIN# shows in the Dealer Order system now)
4150 = Invoiced (Order is invoiced to the dealer)
4200 = Shipped (Vehicle is shipped to the dealer or point of delivery)
5000 = Delivered To Dealer
6000 = Delivered To Customer

I'm hearing two weeks, but also depends on how far you are from the factory. People in California may have a little longer wait.

Is the production date the date it enters production or the date it is done?

Under normal circumstances, 4200 - 5000 takes about 7-12 days depending on the day it was sent. 2000 - 5000 takes about 4-6 weeks.

Ok so that would put the production date as the date the car will be finished. So if last wed 3-18 or so, my car was pulled for production that means it should have went to like 2000 or 2500.
Kewl.

If you have a production date, that means the car is scheduled to be built that week (IE 4-13 would be the week of April 13th, not necessarily on the 13th) Due to production issues there is no guarantee that the car will be built that week though. That is just when it is scheduled to be built.

Once the car is built and invoiced the transport company (Allied Trucking) is under contract to have the vehicle to the dealer within 21 days from when they pick it up at the factory or when it hits their shipping yard. In the Upper Midwest some cars are sent to shipping yards first and some are trucked directly from the factory. Most of the vehicles we get in Wisconsin are first sent to the shipping yard in Gary Indiana by rail car. The rest of the country works out of various shipping yards so depending on where you are and how long it takes GM to get the car to the shipping yard, you may have to wait longer than the 21 days to get the vehicle. The vehicle will be at a 4800 status (In Transit) when it is in the shipping sytem. On the invoice there is a date called the "Interest Commencement Date". That is the date the dealer starts getting charged interest on the car. From experience, I have found that most vehicles will get to the dealer a few days before the ICD to within a day or so after. Usually our vehicles show up within a day of the ICD. Allied can get fined if the car shows up after the ICD.

One thing I will mention is that it is possible for a dealer to pick up a car at the shipping yard if they want to. They just need to call the yard and tell them when they will be there to get it. We have done this with the Gary IN yard when we had a rush on something. I would, though, highly suggest against having your dealer call the shipping yard to question them or ask to have the car shipped sooner than what they have scheduled. That can create Nightmares!!

I hope this clears up the fog for some of you!

To put it briefly, there really is no way of knowing when you car will get to your dealer until it is built. Once it is built and invoiced you will see the car within three weeks if not sooner. I have ordered cars and had them go from ordered (2000) to delivered (5000) in five weeks and I've also seen it take 16 weeks.

The Camaro is new and it will take time (6-8 weeks) for production to get to full capacity and so I would advise everyone who has a car ordered to be patient and understand that it's really difficult to track one car when there are thousands being built. Your dealer should be able to watch the build date (week) and then the ICD date when it's invoiced and from that you'll have a really good idea of when your Camaro will be burning gas and smoking the tires!

I am actually hoping it takes 6 weeks. I am QC Manager on a construction job in Colorado expected to be finished May 15. Then I have a couple weeks of paper work, so that puts me end of may to go back to Oregon to get my car. So if my TPW is Apr 13-19 I could get there the same time as my car. I have another new project starting in Utah sometime in June that will last two years. I will stay in Oregon till I get my car if I have to. Sounds like the schedule may just work out good.

5-6 weeks would be about right.

Week 1 - Order is submitted by system

2 weeks later - Order is produced

2 weeks later - Car is delivered (give or take)

Any longer than that, then I'll really start pulling my hair out

The target production week starts 3 weeks after the order is submitted (accepted on tuesday/wed). From there, you have approximately another 2-4weeks til delivery. This will likely be delayed at first while they verify the early cars off the line. So once your order goes in, you've got 6-8weeks til that glorious "it's here" phone call.

Are you given a TPW as soon as the order is submitted?
