When the oil change was done, I walked out to my car an heard a knocking noise from the engine.

1) I was upset because the oil notification on the MID wasn't reset.

2) A service tech HAD to hear it and didn't say anything. I'm not the most technical "under the hood" guy but I know when something doesn't sound right.

After a lot of miscommunication with the dealership due to my service advisor going on vacation. I was left with a enterprise 2011 impala (UGH) on Friday June 15th.

Today I still haven't hear anything so I made a visit and the writer tells me "they are thinking its the engine, you might need a new one". As my eyes get big he says "don't worry Atleast it's under warranty"

Besides the fact the fact that my 2012 camaro might need a new engine. I'm pretty upset it has taken this long to let me know what is going on! And I don't have my car AT THE PEAK OF GOOD WEATHER in my area!! (Washington d.c.)

Has anyone else ever had or heard of a problem like this?

**pic unrelated. I just miss my baby

I just traded in my 2011 2LT RS for the SS because of this same issue.. @ 7k miles it was making knocking noise and after driving further it just started hesitating... turned out to be the #3 piston rod went out. They towed it then replaced the crankshaft assembly and whatever parts that were damaged. @ 20k miles it happened again and thsi time they replaced the engine... when i asked why they said lack of oil was most likley the issue. Your the third person I have heard this happen to so far on a V6

Not to upset with the car, heck I sell hondas and we had a brand new 2012 Odyssey touring tranny go out @ 20 miles lol.

I'm more upset with the lack of communication from the service department.
I would try to get a V8 out of their screwup

Reading your post, it sounds like it wasn't making the noise when you took it in (or you wouldn't have taken it in for JUST an oil change). Wouldn't you think that the frequency of these maladys would demand a service bulletin to the dealerships saying if you hear this....this is what's wrong and here's how to fix it. At least they could tell the owner what's going to happen without making it a "mystery"! Sorry, man, I'm sometimes embarassed that the largest worldwide network of car sales people seem like they have no clue!

Sucks man. Atleast they are willing to replace your motor and you don't have to fight them about it.

Wouldn't be the first time. Luckily, I went to school with the guy who runs the local oil change place. He lets me go down into the pit to see the underside of my vehicles when I'm there.

On a different note, you need to learn how to park...

Sorry to hear about the engine. Knocking is not good.

I agree with what you said in your first sentence. And there IS a TSB for that, it's called "Put oil back in after you drain it." Obviously if it wasn't making noise before the oil change, and it's making noise immediately after....... it's not the sales people's fault, it's the technician that apparently doesn't know how to do a proper oil change.
