Help me find something please...
So I've been looking around here and the net in general for some DIY/How to's on three jobs. 1) Cradle Bushing replacement 2) Differential bushing replacement. 3) Front Radius arm bushing replacement.
1) Cradle Bushings... I've read where guys mention about just removing the bolts and putting a socket or spacer between the car and the bushing and using a floor jack to push them out. I'd like some more specifics if possible. 2) Differential bushings I've read about pushing them out with an air hammer and others I've seen where there is a hole saw and a sawzall involved. 3) Radius bushings... Honestly IDK even know which ones they are and where to even begin as far as replacing them. Like I said I have been looking and not really coming up with the answers I'm seeking. The DIY section has relatively old threads and guys I think have figured out better methods. Also the diff has to come out does that mean the exhaust have to come out? Something else when the diff comes out is that the rubber isolator that people say fails and some replace it with that urethane "six shooter" piece? If so I guess this is a good time to replace that piece. Any and all help will be appreciated.

Yeah but like I said they seem older and I've seen where people elude to different and easier methods but can't really find much explanation.

Have you tried PMing the people who eluded to these different/easier methods?

I'm trying to remember who they were.
BTW Stig that list you made is usually the first place I check. I think I need to look through the thousand or so subscribed threads I have. I'm still hoping someone chimes in. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

I basically used jeremywes's method for the cradle bushing removal (first link in The Stig's post). It wasn't easy, but it worked. I tried doing the socket and jacking method, but I couldn't get them to budge that way, maybe I needed more heat.
One thing I learned with the allthread/pvc method was that the bottom caps that you pry off of the front bushings are the perfect size to put on top of the rear bushings to pull them out (sorry, I didn't think to take pictures when I did it). Also, I used the bottom cap from the rear bushings inside of a 4" pvc coupler on the bottom of the rear bushings. It sat perfectly in the lip of the pvc coupler. Dang, I really should have taken pictures... |

Couldn't find much on the Radius bushings. Admittedly I got tired of searching. I'll get back at it tomorrow.
The diff has to come out to do the bushings... So that's that then I blast them out with the air hammer. I can probably get the Ball Joint press involved too...

Here is one I did for the radius rod inserts. It will give you and idea on where it's located at least. If you're doing a whole bush then you'll need to have them pressed out. If you don't have a press then call your local auto parts store and see if they have one and how much.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=156879 Here is a pic of when Whiteside pressed mine out.

For rear differential stuff Whiteside used the allthread and even with heat mine where a super PITA. We bent up some allthread trying to get mine out. Mike said mine where the hardest ones he had ever done. So, I'm guessing some are pressed or glued in harder than others.
ADM on the other hand used a sawsall to cut right through them and then a hammer to knock them out. He had all three out in less than 10 min. Obviously having the whole pumpkin out probably helped.

Nice Caver I got this covered now. I have the tools now I have the concept.
I spent so many years with G-Body/S-10 suspensions some of the parts on this car elude the hell out of me. Thank you. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
