Heads and Cam swap
Instead of completely derailing Bulldog's thread I decided to make a separate thread about my heads and cam swap. I've been slowly taking the car apart for the last few days and got the heads off today. I'll tackle the cam tomorrow. Here is how she sits for now.

Ported 243's. So today was one of those days where if somebody came by it'd look like you didn't get any work done. Got about 2 hours in after work and it was all devoted to getting the balancer off. The first puller I rented broke, so I got a bigger one. It worked until the last 1/4 inch. There was no more thread left on the crank bolt so I had to resort to 3 lb sledge hammer and a crowbar. Luckily the puller had these nice hooks to beat on and I worked it off slowly. Some newer pics. I hope tomorrow goes better so I can get the cam, oil pump, timing chain on.

I'm slowly whittling away at it. I did a few hours yesterday and got the cam out and the new one slid in. Before I did that I pulled the lifters and trays out and I cleaned all the passenger side head bolt holes. They had a lot of crap in them so it took awhile.
Today I dropped the oil pan a bit, pulled the old oil pump and finished the cam install by putting the LS2 timing chain on. I was making good time and should've gotten the timing cover back on before dark but I dropped the oil pick up tube bolt into the oil pan when I was installing the new pump. So after running to the store to get a flexible pen magnet, I was able to fish it out rather quickly. Tomorrow I am hoping to put a big dent in it since I've got the day off of work and have all day until about 1730 to work on it. Yesterday: How she sits now:

It's done! First start up was actually last night but somehow one set of coil packs was plugged in the wrong way. I let a friend help me and it ended up plugged in 7-5-3-1 instead of 1-3-5-7 and #7 had a pin bent so it wasn't actually plugged in.The car back firing so bad I had a headache afterwards; it sounded like gun fire coming out of the garage.
Anyway I decided to go down and trouble shoot this morning and found the wires like that. 5 min later I tried it again and she fired right up! Here's an idling video once the car was more warmed up.

I just dropped it off with John at Broadview Auto Service. He does good street tunes for the cars. He's done all the tuning on the car up until now, and has done a lot of tunes for other LSx cars in the area.

Man that sounds amazing! I like the 113 LSA, still has that definite chop in the idle but not as noticable. Are you planning on dynoing to see what power the package added?
